I have some great 60's miniskirts that I'm planning on wearing this fall, but I don't know what to pair them with (besides opaque tights or kneesocks). What tops, shoes and jackets go with miniskirts for fall??

I think knee length boots look good with mini skirts

white boots
croped jacket
turtelnecks

with :tiny fitted biker leather jackets
turtlenecks
tight short v necks
loose 'batwing-ish' blouses preferably in print
or bold colours, eg. green , yellow.
xtra high heel round toes (maryjanes or else)
but please no boots, much more short, low heel
or pointed toes boots

if you want a real 'hot' ultra trendy micro mini version,
you could skip the opaque tights for ankle
socks or wear a pair of ankle socks over your opaques,
or you can go creative wearing your mini over
footless tights, leggins even over a pair of tight jeans.
it looks real cool and is getting popular (lots of models
use this look with their micro minis, pairing with jeans)
you can also try a close fitted beret style hat
and take the seriousness off the style
choosing a loose messenger bag.
for coat, best thing is a box coat a-la mods
but it looks too victimised/nostalgic/jacobs/matching
* personally coat-wise i would go for a knee length coat
with hood, the type we call 'montgomery' a bit highschool,
college kind of coat.

as lena said:

i think this winter skirts are ought to be worn with LEGGINGS! ( :innocent: )
i think its a brilliant look for a change.... well not really but its different
i would wear it also with a biker leather jacket and converse for the day or stilettos at night

Yes definetly legings , legings are so hot right now especially in bright coloures like yellow, I think they look good cropedd a inch or to above the ankle.

I like the idea of leggings too, with a plain turtleneck and flats. I really like longish coats with minis, esp. when the coat is longer than the skirt!

like the others said, there really are a LOT of options available. Just make sure that the shirt you wear is not cropped or really tiny because then it ruins everything!! I'm not saying you couldn't wear a shirt with a cropped bomber jacket or anything but when you have small on the bottom and small on the top it looks  and quite trashy.

hehehe i love how i just gave advice and now i have question. I just bought a mini skirt. not micro or anything, just a couple inches or whatever above my knees. Anyway, any idea what color of tights i could wear? I was at Zara the other day and they had a bunch of bright leggings in, however it was 8:45, they were about to close and now i don't have one near me....anything else i could wear underneath?

I think you can find bright legings any wear , even tres tacky stores like Target or whatever you have.

What is the colour of your mini skirt?

haha, cheap stores might be the best because they'll still carry 80's clothes. but we don't have target here.

it's black, shaved cord. with pocket flaps on the side. they actually don't have a pocket though. it's sort of a horizontal flap. it's fairly mod.

Try a similar look to this - I wear a black turtleneck with my denim mini, black opaque tights and knee length heeled boots (flatter heels work just as well). You could also go for lace up shoes. I like this look as I can wear my minis without feeling too tarty.

Hi All,

I'm getting really fed up with keeping my legs encased in trousers all the time! I work hard to keep my legs in shape and I want to get them out on show! I haven't worn a mini for ages but now they are back in fashion I am going to. Is it OK to wear this with bare legs? If I cover my legs up with tights they are going to feel the same as in trousers. I want my legs out not covered up. Is anyone else braving the cold and getting those legs on display? Any tips welcome!

Charlotte

Opaque tights with minskirts is one of the best ways to wear the mini this winter. Boots are a must. You can also wear leggings.

Hope this helps! :flower:

LOVE the miniskirts for winter idea, 'cept...it's not very ideal in my environment, even with tights. Maybe early fall, but not winter...

But I think the look is super chic and with the times.

I'd love to continue to wear my mini's in the winter, but I live in Chicago and no matter what tights I wear, or if I have my boots on... I'm still going to freeze.

So thumbs up to those of you who are going to brave the winter!

Good Luck! :lucky:
