thx for the addtional images inaya...
i stand by my original assessment that the stars of the show are the coats...

but the boots that lace to the top are growing on me too...
:p

and i think i want a fedora!...
:woot:

**i find the colored hair bits terribly distracting and really sort of a mistake...:ermm:

I'm dying over the detail shots:wub: I have a soft spot for Mr. Yamamoto, he's terribly cute (off topic, i know)

^ he gets more adorable each season, it's a fact! :winkiss:

I only like the hair and some of the coats...
everything else is jlfljksdslfljksdkjflksdfjlksldkjfjkd

nice in concept, but he needed to do more than talk to his existing clientel with this collection. seriously, you can't keep doing the same things over and over and expecting a different outcome.
funny.....isn't that EXACTLY what balmain does every single season? and yet you come to decarnin's defense every season and pretend like it's something more than what it really is. yohji doesn't literally reproduce the same 5-6 garments each season in a different color/material/denim wash at an overinflated price.....

not as strong as i like him to be...
the best bit is the outerwear to me...

this just lacks the usual magic...
its' stiff and the big buttons make it too much like limi imo...
i prefer yohji when he is a bit more romantic and soft...
but i guess he probably isn't feeling that way right now...
:(
mte. It's not his best, and yes it's true it's still Yohji, but I feel like with lighter makeup and some sweats it could have easily been Y-3. The romance isn't there for me... but that said I still think our pal Yohji is, still, one of the greatest designers ever :flower:

i'm sorry, did balmain file for bankruptcy last year? i'm the first to tell someone to move on if it's not successful in the marketplace. balmain, if anything, has proved a WILD success once the clothes hit the rack. now, if it were 1984, and yohji yamamoto had a base of young rich cosmopolitans flocking to his stores and buying him out -- he, too, once had a legion of fans as obsessive as the balmainiacs -- then it's fine, but it's nearly thirty years later, his business collapsed. he just got a life line, now, if ever, is a time to not completely change his ideals, but to show the world what the yohji yamamato girl of 2010 wants to wear.

and, for the record, yamamoto pieces ARE HUGE investments. it takes quite a large bank balance to afford a piece of yohji so he's not competing against the guccis and the burberrys and diors of the world, he is competing against the astronomically priced designers like balmain for the same customer. and they aren't biting.

Love Y, and this collection's dreamy, especially the double breasted stuff...

mikeijames, I usually disagree with you about Balmain, but you're right. Yohji had a legion of rich fashionistas both male and female back in the 90's just willing to pay the most astronomical prices for the simplest of clothing because it was Yohji. boys and girls pounced on his polka dot pants and coats as soon as it hit stores.

during the 90's though, people were more experimental with their fashion. now, everyone's just all about being classic with a pair of endless heels.

i recently watched the video and i have to say that it's SO much better to watch the stuff in motion...
i have a whole new appreciation for this collection...

i mean- that's always true with yohji...
but i am always surprised by how true it is, every single time...
^_^
