Mine is always very painful.
I get very bad cramps....
esp. in my thighs that hurt so much it's hard to walk.
Luckily it's only painful the first day.
A midol or 3 usually helps.

It was much lighter and less painful when I was on the pill....
but IMO that was the only benefit of the pill for me.

mine has always been regular - every 28 days and for a week. this cycle, due to my new pill, i've had it for two weeks. it's awful!

same here!
but now that im on the pill it doesnt hurt at all! and i only have it 3 days or so and very light...before i was on the pill it often lasted more than a week!

ditto, the pill stops cramps completely before i went on it earlier this year i couldn't get out of bed with cramps as they had got so bad :/. otherwise the only cure for cramps is a hot water bottle and nurofen.

however the pill makes you crave food all the time, so i personally have to go to the gym now.

Let's see...I always know when my period's coming due the following symptoms

1)the obligatory sprinkling of white pimples all over my face
2) extreme moodiness and frustration
3) cravings (usually cupcakes and cheesy doritos are the junk foods of choice
4) random millisecond crampin.

I feel much much better when my period has started.

Also, as I have gotten older, my cramps have significantly lessoned. I rarely have cramps anymore (I'm not on birth control, nor have I had a baby). Believe me when I say this is truely a blessing.

So, I recently discovered the menstrual cup and figured this would be the perfect place to talk about it (for the people who have no idea what it/they are).

I don't know. I HATED my period with the white hot passion of a thousand suns until I got one. Now I don't mind so much. Menstrual cups should be just as prevelant as tampons and pads are, if you ask me.

Anyway, I think this cup is a great idea. No more disgusting smell because the blood doesn't come into contact with the air, no more feeling so filthy, no more not being able to swim, no more stinky rubbish... It's also environmentally friendly and is a hell of a lot cheaper than buying pads and tampons all the time!

I'm a health nut!

Two weeks before my period, I start craving Dulce de Leche ice cream, Doritos, Twix, White Chocolate, Pineapple Soda, etc. the list goes on! My boobs go from a C to D's and I am slim every where else, and I am ALWAYS sleepy!

When my period comes, My boobs are DD'S, none of my pants fit from all the water I retain, I cramp for 3 days straight and no drug can ease the pain and I can't sleep because I can't get comfortable.

I don't want to delve too much into your personal business, but maybe give it one more try? I visit the lj menstrual cup community quite often, and some people have had trouble with it so they stopped using it, and decided to try again a couple months later, and it works like a breeze.

I have the most irregular period. I had my first one around my 12th birthday. Then, it would only come every 3 - 6 month for 3 years. At age 15, it did not come for 8month, went to the doctor, took my medication. Now at 16, my period comes every month sometimes twice a month. As of today, I have missed one cycle... arrrg, so odd!!

I use Tampax Lites tampons most of the time because I find the regular ones uncomfortable and sometimes even the slender ones are uncomfortable. I'd consider the menstrual cup if I wasn't afraid it would be too uncomfortable for me. It's definitely a lot wider around than a tampon.

Lol what did the woman in video mean with mentioning Eastern Europe among 'traditional cultures'? I don't see what makes the 'managing' of cups more difficult there...

you don't have to look at the blood. Maybe just pull it out and empty it in the toilet w/o looking at it? It's seriously not as gross as you think it is, believe me.

Once you fold it, it's about the size of a tampon.

What i got from the cultures statement, is that the cup may break your hymen. In traditional cultures, you must be a virgin to get married, and having a hymen that's already broken sort of discounts that. I'm assuming.

It's worth a try. It completely changed the way I felt about my period.

i think i would be scared of shoving it in the wrong way. i mean... has anyone ever heard of a moon-cup getting stuck up there? because i have heard stories from friends that have accidentally gotten a tampon stuck up there.

lol there's no where for it to go!

tampons are paper and can get smooshed in a place where you can't reach. Cups have a long stem (it can be trimmed), making it easier for you to remove.

I use the Diva Cup and it is absolutely amazing! You can put it in when your period is due but hasn't actually started (unlike tampons) it can also be left in overnight. They can't get stuck. They are easy to put in and remove and are very comfortable to wear. You can't even feel it.

You can wear it no matter how heavy or light your flow is. And don't worry about emptying it, you don't have to look at it that much. If you remove it while sitting on the toilet, you can just tip it out before you even look at it, so you'll only see a bit of blood on the sides.

One of the reasons the cup is easier to remove is because it's made of latex or silicone so it's smooth, unlike tampons which have always felt rough to me. Especially if your period wasn't heavy enough and you had to remove the tampon which was partially dry. Talk about painful!

And to those ladies who are virgins, you can still use cups. All the brands have different sizes, so you can just get a smaller size. Trust me on this one, I'm actually rather small "down there" (my doctor has to used the smaller sizes instruments when I have a pap, it actually makes the exam a little difficult for her and me) and I use the smaller size of the Diva Cup and I haven't had any problems.

A quick tip - When you're removing the cup, fold it a bit, this will make it smaller and easier to remove.
