The night before, the 24-year-old actor appeared on Conan where he joined host Conan O’Brien and his band member, LaBamba, in singing The Beach Boys‘ “Barbara Ann”!

The impromptu performance happened after Zac recalled a story about singing in public. He shared that when he was 15, he and his drama class buddies sang barbershop quartet songs while enjoying some free time in Paris.

“We’d stopped the entire Champs-Élysées. There was a crowd of people around us. We stopped traffic. We were just being goofballs singing songs,” Zac said.

FYI: Zac is wearing Levi’s denim trucker jacket.

Zac Efron Inspired By Robin Williams For “The Lorax”

Zac Efron has revealed how he took inspiration, for his role in “The Lorax,” from Robin Williams performance as the Genie in “Aladdin.” Zac claims that he viewed a video of Robin recording his voice over and realised that you just have to go for it.

Efron explained, “You just have to throw all of your inhibition out the window. I had to leave my ego at the door. My favourite animated performance probably ever was Robin Williams in Aladdin, when he plays the Genie. When they showed the video from recording that movie, Robin is all over the place.”

He added, “He’s practically doing back flips. He’s doing crazy faces, voices and gestures. He actually looks absolutely ridiculous but the performance that he got out of that was extraordinary. I’ll never forget it.”

Zac continued, “So I just tried not to worry about what I looked like or how I felt or how embarrassing it was. I just tried to go nuts and have fun. As long as you’re having fun you can’t really go wrong.”

You can catch Zac Efron in “The Lorax,” which is out now in the US and is released in the UK on July 27.

Zac Efron Wants Another “High School Musical” Movie

Zac Efron has opened the door for a reunion with his ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens — at least on screen. “The Lorax” star says he has not completely ruled out starring in another “High School Musical” and has hinted that Vanessa and the rest of his old classmates are up for a fourth movie.

“I can’t say for sure if it will happen but deep down in my heart, I would jump at the chance,” says Zac on a sequel. “I’m pretty sure everyone else would feel the exact same way. There’s a lot of powers-that-be but who knows? You can’t predict the future.”

“The Lorax” Set To Cut Down “John Carter”

According to early estimates, “The Lorax” will top the box office for the second straight weekend, beating the big budget sci-fi action flick “John Carter.”

The animated Dr. Seuss adaptation, featuring the voices of Zac Efron, Taylor Swift and Danny DeVito, is on pace for $40 million. Meanwhile, “John Carter,” starring Taylor Kitsch as a 19th century soldier turned Martian hero, is expected to open to $26 million or so.

Third place should belong to “Project X,” with the high school party movie projected to earn $11 million. “Act of Valor” ($7.5 million) will likely finish #4, with Eddie Murphy’s “A Thousand Words” ($6 million) and horror film “Silent House” ($6 million) debuting to weak numbers.

The rest of the Top 10 should include holdovers “Safe House,” “Journey 2,” ‘The Vow” and “This Means War.”

“The Lorax” Tops The Box Office Again

In the end, not even the $250 million budget of “John Carter” nor the Eddie Murphy star power of “A Thousand Words” could outdraw the power of a good old-fashioned family movie.

The animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax,” starring Zac Efron and Taylor Swift, managed to reign supreme at the box office once again, raking in $39.1 million dollars to come in first place on March 11, according to BoxOfficeMojo. The big-budget Mars epic “John Carter” only managed to make $30.6 million, a disappointment considering how much it cost to make.

Teen party flick “Project X” continued to surprise, earning $11.5 million and taking third place, while the Elizabeth Olsen-starring horror film “Silent House” pulled in slightly more than “Act of Valor” at around $7 million each.

“A Thousand Words” didn’t even crack the top 5, but the comedy, which was actually made in 2008, pulled in $6.3 million to come in sixth place. The thriller “Safe House” wasn’t too far behind with $5 million. “The Vow” earned $4 million to “This Mean’s War’s” $3.75, and “Journey 2″ rounded out the top 10 with $3.7
