^which one? the one with beading on the shoulders? if yes, i saw it a few days ago and it looked really crappy already, beads falling off and the material (must have been 100% cotton?) looked out of shape and pilling

for those of you who work at zara, is there any way for me to get my money back or a store credit or something without my receipt? i want to return that grey big-shouldered fitted dress i bought from zara about a month ago, without my receipt (i stupidly threw it out, thinking i would keep the dress) but the SA today basically told me NO WAY, even though i have not worn the dress, tags still attached, the dress is still hanging in the stores at full price! it just doesn't make any sense to me.

if there really is nothing they can do for me, then i think i will need to sell it on ebay... need the $$ to help fund a trip

well i work in a shop so i can tell you that most shops will say No to that situation - making retruns without receipt number is hard or even somethimes impossible ( it depens on computer system they use - not sure what it looks like with zara system ). But on the other hand i was witness few days ago in H&M - the girl not have receipt or even tags ! she say that she wasn't wear it but who knews and SA , yes with bad face and all talking but, make return of money.

I'm afraid you wouldn't be getting money back for the dress without a receipt, the only way you get money back without a receipt is if the item is faulty.

They might give you a credit note/vouchers, but they probably would just ask you to exchange it for something else in store of the same price I'd think?

yes i did ask if they can give me a store credit since i didn't have a receipt, and the SA said that they "don't have a store credit system" (?!?!) and then i asked if i can find something of the same value and do a straight exchange, and she said NO they can't do that. which baffles me terribly and leaves me very dubious, i wonder if i speak to someone else they might be able to help me?

If there's another branch of Zara near you, try that one aswell. You should be able to exchange it. Go to their website before you go in, and review their returns policy in full. It should be on their site, and then if they say no, you can bring it up?

thank you i think i will try that. but on the website it only says that "with a receipt, a customer can exchange or return..." but it doesn't say anything about what happens if you do not have a receipt. i actually found a pair of high-waisted trousers that are the exact same price as the dress...IF ONLY THEY"D LET ME DO A STRAIGHT EXCHANGE!!!

octopi, unfortunately Zara's return policies are very strict. I'm speaking from experience. They didn't even want to let me return or exchange an item with receipt and tag only because I was one day over the thirty days return period. That company is not very customer friendly. H&M always takes everything back even without receipt and tags and gives you at least a store credit. But I doubt that Zara has a store credit system because nobody that I know has ever been able to exchange an item for another. I'll still try again at a different branch if I were you. You never know.

try to go to another store, if there is one near you. or try to speak to another SA or even the store manager.
sometimes certain SAs can be really unfriendly and tell you things about the returning policy which simply are untrue. it really depends on the person you are talking to...

thanks velony and scara i will try returning it at another store, maybe speak to the manager...maybe i will bring an intimidating friend with me, as i'm a huge pushover :S

it's funny you mentioned H&M because right after my failed attempt at zara, i went to H&M to return a dress i had bought there (tags attached but no receipt) and they had no problem giving me a store credit. sometimes zara feels so.....primal!!

^ Yes! Honestly, Zara is the worst. I went to exchange a shirt, and I had the receipt, so I found another shirt to use the credit with. But then after a few weeks I decided to exchange that shirt as well, and they wouldn't let me!! And I had the friggin receipt. They are weird

@ cassanova: really?? that is weird! i've done the same thing before and didn't have a problem (although they were probably unhappy with me). i think it must depend on who you speak to and what mood they are in :S

Well from my experience i've had no problem returning without the receipt & tags still sttached. I mean, they do ask a lot of questions but they've given me those sort of gift cards or direct exchange, as long as you don't ask for a full refund they're ok. Some SA's can be a bit difficult about it, but try asking for the manager since they're generally more customer friendly. but really, they should give you at least store credit/gif cards.

Also, most of the time I'm sort of acquainted with the SA's since I go there very often (to the point where i'm starting to feel slightly ashamed, lol). But yeah, keep trying!
