Abercrombie & Fitch Bans the Color Black

thankfully I don't own anything from their brand, good for them am not an attractive popular American kid :-)

I've worked for Abercrombie is college, they have always banned the colour black, and that has been a few years now. Why is this now making news?

ikr? it's such a non-story and a grab for mentioning A&F again.

i've worked for the company a little bit. the closest thing to black that they offer is color number 23. which is navy. which, at times, is dark enough to pass for black, unless in direct sun or spotlight.

they never offered black, i doubt they will ever.

i'm neither defending them nor saying that they don't do anything wrong. their popularity and profit are dropping real quick for a reason. it might be time for a revamp.

As an adult, I'd feel sort of ridiculous criticizing A&F because they're completely irrelevant to me. I spent way too much money there in my late teens.... The End.

On a side note, as a business owner, he certainly has the right to seek whichever customer base he wishes--but if he thinks that everyone who wears A&F clothing is attractive just because they are under a certain pants size, he's quite mistaken.

P.S. - Did I just contradict myself?

It even applies to coats in the winter.

Are they f*cking serious right now? I don't even thought it was possible to be that stupid

Yah...not one cool kid wears black.

I guess that makes sense out in the sticks or something?

I guess we're about to find out if being a control freak/nut job is sustainable while also running a company.

Who wears A+F? Thats the matter!

Italians, i guess. Everyone's obsessed with it here, i don't even understand. Like at the huge store in new york where there's always a long line, esp in the most touristic months, you can notice that 90% of the people there are italian.

Nonononono...sigh... Black is not a color. They are banning the absence of color.

Banning black is clever, though. That means people will tire of their clothes quicker, and need to buy more...

Their NYC store is pretty mobbed too. But I suspect it has to do with the hot shirtless models they have posing at the door and littered throughout it.

It's all about imagery outside and inside.
The culture itself suits the present subculture so much, with popular culture's personnel and icons are being seen without black.
Black's always thought the formal / the awkward / independent colour.

It's just another move to make sure to take as much money out of the dependent yet fashion-savvy and image-craving teenage crowd as possible - such a big business now.

French teens also love A&F, which I don't understand. They also love Hollister too.
I think it shows you have enough money to go to the US to buy their clothes. But now with the store on the champs elysées, it just shows you can buy a train ticket to Paris.

^ And that you have extremely limited ideas about how to spend your money once there.
