Advice about Starting & Promoting a Fashion Blog - See Post #1 for Thread Rules

^Keep in mind that the name of your blog can always be changed (and without much damage if especially if you have very few readers at the beginning).

Does anyone else have any critique about my template or whatnot? Blogger really isn't the best in terms of design :ninja: . Love tumblr's setup for it but don't think my blog is appropriate for its tumbling functionality.

That's true, thanks! I sent you a message about this. :)

I've started this blog back in 2008 as a class assignment and never went back to it till about 2 or 3 months ago. I'm still figuring some things out. I want to post my everyday looks but want to do something more useful for readers as well so I began doing tutorials. Any critiques? I also find it difficult to work with htmls :/
Please let me know what you think! What will keep you interested if you are the viewer? More DIYs or will the everyday outfits be suffice? Much thanks!

I would suggest adding a bit of color if possible. Overall the layout is very good, but you might benefit from more than just black and white. Don't get me wrong, though, I a huge fan of the color scheme. Really, though, it looks quite good. And you banner is very nice. I think you should definitely include DIYs, but if your many focus is your style, daily outfits should suffice. It all depends on what you are trying to achieve.

lovely lethargy:
Thank you so much for your suggestions! Originally, I wanted to keep it clean and simple and I never noticed the lack of colors till you've mentioned it. It's kind of cool how after someone else brings something up, you kind of see things differently. After your suggestions, I do notice how bland it kind of looks. I will get working on that! But I do have another question. I want to leave the background white so how would you suggests me adding color? To the banner maybe? Thank you! That was very helpful!

I think that black and white is fine as long as you provide really colorful and large images as you do, it ensures your content doesn't compete with your layout for attention.

I personally love the fact that you are keeping your color scheme simple. I hate blogs that are overcrowded because I am supposed to focus on what you are writing about and posting. Great blog!

That's what I had thought originally! I'm glad to see that you agree with me. Thank you!!

Oh thank you! That's wonderful that you like it!

You all are so helpful! Thank you for your comments! I appreciate them all! It's giving me some confidence in my blog now :)

Yeah I prefer black and white unless, the layout is beautifully designed and the actual colors aren't too invasive (like, Susanna-Cole's header and layout).

Your blog looks ultra cute so far oOolalaa :)

Don't get me wrong, everyone, I appreciate a good black and white layout as much as the next person. I would just suggest adding another color in the banner that you like, maybe just a light blue or pink.

So I was checking my analytics today and i wanted to know what are some brackets of page views?? like a medium sized blog, and then a large blog... like at what point do you guys thing PR agents will take you seriously?

Thinking of moving my blogger based blog to Wordpress - anyone done this on here? What problems should I expect?

Hi all,

I would love it if you would all take a look at my blog and give me some advice on how to make it more appealing. I just recently started a few days ago and I'm still learning so any help would be much appreciated! Thank you :)

I think it looks really good, especially considering the fact that you've just started out. The layout is simple, but in a way that doesn't distract from your posts. The colors are nice, too, simple as well. Honestly, I think simple is the way to go. Your post quality seems fairly good, too. The grammar and spelling is good, which is very important to me. Excellent start. Good luck, darling. (:

I think page views is a big asset if you wanna be in good relationship with a brand. Also social media fan base is important...

But more than that PR agents give chance to bloggers who got very positive point of view in editorial, original and creative touch (pictures & video), good communication with polite mails...etc

We just launched our first contest on modaCYCLE, giving away $400 in manufacturing patterns from sponsor Johnny Wu to emerging designers in the NY area monthly. Fingers crossed that we get really good submissions. Has anyone here done something like this before? What is the best way to promote the contest?

^ If you havent already tweet it and ask others to retweet it. I havent done a giveaway (yet) but thats what my friends do.

Also you're welcome Susanna-Cole :)

I've been blogging at livejournal for about 7 years, started out as a personal blog but eventually grew to be a fashion one, but recently switched to blogger. It's mainly on fashion eg daily outfits, sewing projects and the like. I've used a standard blogger template, keeping it simple because I like the minimalist look.

Hope to get some constructive criticism on how I can improve my blog in terms of design, content, page views etc.

Thank you so much for your kind words lovely lethargy :flower:. I really appreciate you taking the time to look over my blog. I hope you will keep visiting! I was also wondering if I should change the font of the title of the blog and make it look more professional instead of the girly one I have right now; what do you think?

blackpeace, I love the concept of your blog and I feel like you're off to a great start! I'm still new at photography, as you probably can tell by my first post, which I took with my phone camera :ninja: , but I know how important it is to catch the reader's eye. I feel like so many bloggers focus on their outfit choices as well, that to stand out from the rest you have to have amazing photos and usually that means switching it up to different locations and using a broad range of scenery. Also the image clarity and size make a huge difference. I feel like your style will relate to many people, so giving them a few different angles of the outfit would be great in my opinion.

On a side note, I read that simplicity is better than overcrowding your reader, so I think your layout choice is good as well as the content.

I was also wondering how you got the online users to show on your blog? I would love to have that on my blog as well!

PS: I'm going to go comment on your blog now, since my comment of your outfit and whatnot would be better suited there :flower:

Good luck and best wishes!
