She's very beautiful, but it's a sort of smug-beauty. Not that she's smug of course. Have to say Bride and Prejudice was an extremely painful ordeal to sit through, the director shld be quartered. We were squirming so much, only sat through it to check out all the costumes.

Not only does she have Caucasian features but she has very white skin. She could be passed as a white woman. Has she had any work done, as in skin lightning? OR is it just extremely fair skin, or the lighting? HAs she had any work done to her face? Botox, lips etc???

If she could pass for a white woman , you must be blind, she is so exotic looking and doesnt have the typical white features, thin lips etc.

India has a billion people, there are people in kashmir with blue, bright coloured eyes who are fair to Punjabi people who look more arabic to Gujarati who are dark complected to south indian who are almost black.

i agree with the gist of your point, but i take issue with just one thing...light and dark skin isnt confined to certain regions...i have seen very dark north indians and very light south indians. and yes, aish can pass for "white"...whatever that means...shes light enough...

as for missy t1...im uncomfortable, as a south asian, with the way you word what you say about indians...you come off as very insecure and not proud of indian beauty in all its forms

For some reason, it's actually a lot of Indian women in my personal experience that put Ash down. Couldn't be jealousy could it?

And I must agree with the comment raised about 'the whiter you are the more attractive you're considered' mentality that is unfortunately prevalent in South Asia. But it is ridiculous...because it's not the skin shade that determines it....like mentioned, ethnic people will always have the standard out features such as lips and nose and eyes that means they just won't pass for whites and I don't understand the obsession with wanting to anyway.... Some of the most beautiful women in the world have 'an exotic look'. So the notion that Ash could pass for a white woman is, apart from ignorant, just downright laughable.

Well, i could be wrong but i heard that some Northern Indians have Caucasian blood in them from ancient times (apparently, Caucasian tribes resided in Northern India (who also travelled to South India) for a time and then mixed with the other Indian tribes)...again, i could be wrong. Just a theory i heard that may explain why she may appear 'white' to some so sorry if i offended anyone

Nevertheless, to me, if i wasn't as exposed to that many Indians in my lifetime, i'd probably assume she's Russian. But since i HAVE seen quite a few Indians, she has a very Indian look to her. The exotic eyes and nose in particular are a dead give away

Oh i forgot to mention her fashion style...to be honest, i think she lacks style. She seems to be really behind in time.

EDIT: And her skin isn't "too white", she seems fair but tan-ish to me.

You're right Ce'nedra...there is Caucasian heritage along the way... I believe that everyone has randomness in their family tree. The Caucasian look tends to be thinner lips, smaller nose etc but you see many white woman that have very full features, suggesting they too could have some ethnicity along the way...and vice versa for dark women.

And it's true that Ash could be mistaken for another nationality....she has a diverse look which is part of her appeal I'm sure. But those doe eyes and lips prove she is Indian IMO. her look isn't rare esp in Bombay where I've visited. So it just amuses me when that comment was made about her look being unrepresentative.

But yes, the fashion style needs help. give her a while...Hollywood will give her a helping hand as its done to copious other actresses.

Exactly, and to build on that, when the aryans invaded the India where it was first Dravidian, there was mixing. That is where the caste system came from and why some south indians have light skin and some northies have dark.
