I like her sunglasses in post #958, but I find the red dress in post #959 to be incredibly tacky and I don't like that black dress w/silver embroidery either. Her sari is nice and the black/white stripe top w/the belt is cute.

This is Vintage Aishwarya Rai, she's like 23 or 24 in this video (a song from her debut movie). Not only is her figure to die for here, but what really strikes me is how even at such a young age she's so elagant, feminine and delicate, this is when I first fell in love with her, I'd never seen an actress so beautiful in Hollywood or Bollywood before her. She's so gorgeous and this song is an ode to her beautiful eyes.

I think their both equally successful and both have a huge fan following but for different reasons.....IMO Preity is more recognised for her acting talent, whereas Aish is more popular as an ex Miss World/model first and then an actress.

I just like the fact that both actresses are good friends, since the media tend to make Aish out as an ice queen.

I would agree with your assessment. Ash can't act. I remember she was the star of that movie Devdas but was completely eclipsed by the supporting actress who acted circles around her.

Madhuri Dixit (my eternal favourite)-the supporting actress in Devdas-definitely eclipsed Aishwarya in the film. However, I do think that Aishwarya did some of her best acting in Devdas, and she looked very beautiful.
