I think if you take away the makeup and the setting with some of these pieces you are left with something actually wearable.
That is the greatness of this.
It looks and acts like a couture show but some of this is very wearable (to me at least). This is tettering on the edge of what is considered wearable and what is considered couture which is what I love so much. And there are definitely more shapes than his usual Victorian era gowns and corsets.

Despite all the drama and theatrics (which I hate) there are some incredible wearable ideas. Genius from the east end just schooled Paris. SCHOOLED IT.

I'm not sure if Gareth has it in him to ever make something desirable and wearable. He seems better suited as an artist or director, but not so much fashion designer.

I think this looks good, but I'm not sure. I love the concepts and the set but I really hate houndstooth printed on fabrics that are not tweed.

The snake gown is gorgeous though... His prints are really something nowadays.

Wow. I can't wait to see the entire collection, but from what I see here, I am amazed.
I agree with everyone that said this is more classic, old-school McQueen, and I like it that way (now if only he would revisit the steel exoskeleton spines from S/S1998 then I would really die of happiness)

The use of prints combined with the bold shapes is like a sensory overload. I actually might have been overwhelmed by it all if the majority of the fashion weeks so far hadn't been so bland.

THIS is how you go dark. Everyone else take note (and leave the leather micromini skirts and kohl-lined eyes on the drawing board next time).

Definitely one of the best three collections this season. His use of geometry here is really quite ingenious - and it is beautiful as well. Quite beautiful.

This is kind of different for McQueen, no? I mean, he's done bold geometric shapes and stripes before, but never this in your face.

I see nothing really new and special here. The outrageousness seems forced. Sharp tailoring as always, but the mood gets boring. But I do like the 60s-inspired stripes-everywhere looks.

Oh yes!!! The F/W 98 Blade Runner collection. I remember those striped leather pieces.

These that he's showing here are like the blown up, in your face version of those looks.
