Alexander McQueen S/S 11 Paris

I think she's doing great, this being her first women's RTW for McQueen. You can see old collections shining through and with it classic McQueen elements. I have nothing against it being commercial and a bit of a tribute, she's establishing herself as a designer.
I'm hopeful, the future looks bright.
i agree so much. if she had gone and done a completely new thing everyone would be like 'burn the witch! this has nothing to do with mcqueen!'
im afraid there's no way she can make it right in people's eyes

Future looks bright. exactly. this is transition well into stores and it will really set the bar for years to come when she gets the hang of designing for the company.

Hmmm...there are some beautiful pieces, but on the whole everything looks terribly overwrought.

That's actually a huge problem I had even with McQueen's last handful of collections...they lacked an effortlessness that I always associated with his best collections.

It's really good but I'm getting a HUGE Mcqueen SS09 vibe, some dresses are exactly the same
Anyway it's a wonderful job for being her first RTW collection

Some of the shapes and prints remind me of F/W 10.11 but all in all it looks like a good continuation to her last collection. I'm eager to see close-ups of all the details.

it looks like McQueen but it's not nearly as amazing and magical as the real genius' collections!

I have no complaints about this at all. I think Sarah always understood Lee's vision very well and it seems they always worke dtogether very closely. Of course the collection is "lacking" something since it's not Lee & Sarah anymore, it's only Sarah now but I think she did a wonderful job! I really really really love what she did here, the shoes are stunning, the prints are amazing and the gowns look interesting, too. Definitely one of the best SS2011 collections. Go Sarah!!!!

People are either going too say that it's too far based on Lee's previous work or that it's not like McQueen at all. I say, give the girl a break.. she has a lot of pressure on her back as far as maintaining the founding elements of the brand while at the same time trying to make her own mark as a designer. This is certainly not groundbreaking but some of these looks are just gorgeous.. and I think she should be applauded for her work.

I personally love things over the top so the feathers and all that appeal to me.

Reminded me of a combination of Alexander McQueen F/W 2009, S/S 2009, S/S 2008, and a dash of Balenciaga S/S 2008.
I really think Burton did a great job keeping Alexander's legacy going! I loved it!

To be her first collection it's good. It's not great, it's obviously not Lee, but it's also not disrespectful of him. It's good. Just that.
I agree with this. Not sure what else to say at the moment.

ETA: I think that some of these pieces are over-designed, but I completely understand the need to pay tribute to McQueen. Hopefully everything will fall into place with time. After all, she has huge shoes (literally!) to fill.

This girl is gonna be fine. She just needs to get her footing and she'll be able to fly away.

I actually wish she'd sent out more daywear, these are mostly for the Daphne Guinness of the fashion circuit.

I really like this. From what I've seen, it may be a tad bit much, but she's definitely going in the right direction. Beautiful first RTW collection. I'm excited to see what she produces in the future.

i thnk its quite on par with mcqueen's standards, give the girl a break please.

Don't forget mcqueen has a hand in everything in the show like how
the presentation of the clothes should be.

I think this is a great collection.

I think Sarah Burton is damned if she does, damned if she doesn't - if she changes too much she's ruining his legacy, if she stays true to his spirit, it's 'just a best-of collection'. I think she has done a fantastic job.

His shoes are impossible to fill but she's done his name justice.
