Alexander Wang F/W 09.10 New York

oh wow. Why do I ever expect anything from Alexander Wang? With the exception of a couple of the dresses and a shirt or two, I find this all quite horrid. I mean - wtf? He's been doing the leather/oversized/bicycle short/legging thing for ages and not only is it nothing new, but it doesn't even look flattering on the models. Nothing looks oversized in a chic way. It looks oversized in a 'I just got this from Value Village for $2' type of way. I'm disappointed.

This is sooo bad!! ITA!!! Enough with the leggings already!! What is with designers re-hashin either Balmain, Balenciaga, or Givenchy???

Some pieces are cool but some are just NO!:ninja:

I definitely see Givenchy reference in this...especially the pants!...

At least it's better than the last season...

I like jackets and some of the dresses, but tights are awful, esp the crocodile ones.
After first few pics I was sure I'll love it, but I got disappointed overall...
tequila shot would come handy now...

I think so too. He's got a lot of support from the CFDA fund he definitely needs to give a better showing... he simply spent a lot more money on fur and croc skin this season. But I think they have been used wrongly... some looks are really tacky and trying-too-hard.

I am so not feeling Wang's stuff these days :innocent:

I kind of like it...I generally find Wang pretty trendy, and there certainly is a lot of trendy pieces here, but amidst it all, I think there are some well designed, attractive pieces.

i kind of like the jackets, the dresses and the overall styling but omg those shorts need to disappear from my sight righ now

I was so excited when I saw this thread title. :woot:
The collection is... expected? The hats are interesting... I feel like I've seen them before in some other F/W '09 collections around this forum (can't remember exactly which). What's that hat "style" called?
Also... that inspiration board... I'm totally saving that picture.

just the general look of this collection is upsetting. it's even worse that they some how managed to make julia, maryna, natasha, and lily look busted.

theiry mugler meets givenchy goes to the trailer park

and balenciaga , im soo shocked at how new york designers are aping givenchy and balenciaga soooooo much , its just ridiculous

OMG OMG OMG this is rock rock rock. Super chic!!!!! I love Alexander Wang, finally New york is more interesting.

I am so tired of him and his army of Erin Wasson clone fangirls.

The pieces that aren't derivative of other collections are just plain ugly.

Personally, I thought it looked great as a collection.

Definitely a shift from his previous basics to a more leather pieces and more accessories collection, especially with the recent fund he got where Rock.The.Inc pointed out earlier.
Like some of you had mentioned, I do agree that it's still better than last season's collection.
He gets innovative with some of the dresses, which I think they looked fresh and would certainly be seen on celebrities sooner or later.

Though, along with most of the other designers tht had presented so far, I could see some references from other designers in some pieces.
But overall, I thought wang brought something new to the table, and the styling by Alastair McKimm is much better than his first attempt which is last season.

hahah, shouldnt the title be changed to justin bobby f/w 09
i know i know! i am actually embarrassed by making this reference to the hills. oops!

^Looks like Alastair McKimm hasn't been acknowledged yet... :p

Did McKimm really style this show again? If so I don't think he and Wang should work together anymore. It pains me to say that because I love McKimm's other work. I hate to say it but Erin Wasson was better at styling Alexander Wang's clothes.
