Amber Heard Files for Divorce from Johnny Depp

it's not an excuse that she is the mother of the kids; it's a fact. but seriously, like i said, they may've reached out to her for a statement, and she made a protective and/or generic one for the sake of her kids, as many a mother might do. i don't know that i'd criticize her for this. maybe she might've been better off had she said "no comment" but her protective instinct kicked in.

but agree with you all - it is sad that they are all getting dragged into the mud due to depp's stupidity. ugh. what a messy mess!

^^ exactly..

Vanessa was not part of the relationship, so she has no say, let alone any business sending a freaking letter.. the excuse that she's the mother of the kids doesn't work for me, he's also the father of the kids, it's his responsibility to protect them and clean the mess if he made the decision to go into a stupid relationship and they're all going into the pool of mud with him...

eta* re pixie: didn't he also have his friend at US Weekly publish a s*itty story on Vanessa?...
Yes he did. I wish I could find something better than Lainey's spark notes version of it but sadly I can't. In summary, nothing is his fault EVER. He has no agency in his life and he was forced into this vicious cycle of being a living breathing caricature because of Vanessa.

I do remember an interview with Winona where she sent Natalie Portman a letter of apology after filming Black Swan as apparently the scene where she had to smash up everything reminded her of her first boyfriend.

....

if that is true, it's surprising vanessa would say anything on his behalf. :o which leads me to conclude she must have done it for the kids.

wow, i used to like johnny depp during his edward scissorhand years, but he's turned into such a joke.

I don't understand why everyone is bashing Amber and saying she is lying, when no one knows what happened. This is exactly why most of women never report domestic violence, because they are always portrayed as liars!

Also I don't see why all the exes (the 1st wife + Vanessa) are saying Johnny is not violent. They should wait to be asked to testify in front of a court instead of trashing Amber in the media. And just because they didn't have problem of domestic violence with Johnny doesn't mean he is not capable of beating his wife. People change, and it seems quite obvious that Johnny has a big problem with alcool and maybe dr*gs, so this is not helping his case. And if I remember well, there was an incident once with Kate in a hotel?

Anyway, apparently she has a video to prove the violence, so let's just wait and see.
But I'm pretty sure that whatever happens, it won't affect Johnny's career. Hollywood sure loves the bad guys.

^ HW won't care as long as he's profitable. But if people start boycotting his movies then that's another issue...

Yeah people don't boycott Sean Penn, Polanski, W. Allen and co so it won't happen for Johnny I think ! And everyone on social media is like "90's Johnny Depp is bae so he can beat his wife I don't care"... what a sad world we live in.

Also Lily-Rose Depp posted a photo today on Instagram with this caption:
My dad is the sweetest most loving person I know, he's been nothing but a wonderful father to my little brother and I, and everyone who knows him would say the same ❤️

I might be wrong, but Amber strikes me as a woman who is gonna be very manipulative and do whatever it takes to gain fame and money, so I wouldn't buy into what she claims that fast

Agree. But even worse is these idiots like Paul Bettany chiming in. As if just because your friends with someone you know what goes on behind closed doors in their most intimate relationships.

^ right?! I was just thinking that. Lily's post is a bit sad, cause it's her father, and not much guidance from any of the two parents to tell her to stay out of it, and ultimately it's a bit like a normal family.. the ex and what he/she claims magically turned into the antichrist.

But yeah, I do like this idea that whatever you are with someone, behind doors, can be balanced by what your uncle or mom or your teacher in 2nd grade can say about you, if only the world worked like that "my lovely nephew would never violently whip and chain someone upside down longer than agreed to, we have seen nothing but the sweetest kindest behavior and freshly baked cupcakes from him".

There you go again!! First Peter Sarsgaard, now Paul Bettany. You're ruining my guy-crushes, lol.
Ugh, so dissapointed to see him meddle in this mess because he's not normally one to talk to the press. It seems all these people voicing in defense of Johnny are forgetting an integral part of the charge - the violence which occured the night of the abuse! They're all refuting the PROOF laid bare in black and white????? Unbelievable! I wonder if this influx of character assessments isn't the handiwork of Johnny's publicist. Wouldn't put it past her, tbh.

@NotPlainJane: Jane, even if she was doing it for the kids, that simply wasn't the way to go about it. You can pledge your support silently. Call me the devil's advocate, but I fear Vanessa had her own set of motivations for sending out that statement. Vindictiveness. Not the welfare of her children.

most definitely true. friends have no idea about the truth of relationships.

at least vanessa is speaking from a place of intimacy, having lived with him for 14 years and raising 2 kids with him.

but the others can never know. even vanessa doesn't know the truth of his relationship with heard; she can speak only of her own experience with him.

as for lily-rose, it's not so surprising she would want to support her parent. but she must've felt burned when he married someone closer to her age than her mom's.

ugh ugh ugh... such a mess.

you could almost see this coming after that ridiculous dog-smuggling apology.

@benn98, i suppose that is possible... and it may even explain lily-rose's motives as well. vengeance is a powerful desire. maybe even more powerful than protectiveness.

If it's true that there's video of the abuse, I feel so bad for Lily... of course she's gonna believe and defend her dad but to encounter blatant proof it's going to be hard for her.

I wonder if Amber would have said anything if Johnny just gave her what she wanted.

I feel kinda bad for Lily, she probably doesn't know what to think at the moment, unable to actually believe her dad did any of this. If rumours are to be believed Lily abhorred Amber from minute one, so she probably just sees her as opportunistic and lying...

and now Depp's team is using the same "she's too Hollywood!" claim with Amber.

You see, Johnny Depp is a real, down-to-earth, non-Hollywood guy who just happens to be friends with someone who works at Us Weekly

The Vanessa/Lily-Rose statements are irrelevant. Perhaps he didn't hit them but that doesn't mean he isn't capable of abusing his new wife..He has a history of a violent temper and is apparently deep into his addiction.
Btw after the Vanessa/Johnny separation, Depp gave Vanessa a lot of money ( $150 Million) + a house..They are probably on good terms..

It's very brave of Amber to speak out about his abuse especially considering the fact Depp is really beloved by the industry/public, he's super powerful.

Johnny is so f**ked (and rightfully so based on the growing evidence). He should just give Amber what she wants before any more damage is done tbh.

Give me a break!! Either she beat herself up or got someone else to do it for her as a pr stunt or it's more than obvious that he did it to her. There is NO excuse for pyshical violence and i mean... Have you guys had a look at the guy lately? He looks like a bloody mess.. ...sloppy, skin looks terrible, I mean.. He looks very dodgy to me. But that doesn't matter.. What does in fact matter is that he beat up his partner. Wife beater, that's what he is. Would any of you like someone doing that to your mother? I guess not.. So please stop making up for this low life loser!
