I searched and was surprised to find the only thread for Amsterdam was for vintage shopping.

I'd love to know where to find all the big labels. I've never looked for these types of stores in Amsterdam before so if you know of some please let me know.

However I am a huge lover of fashion books and magazines and here is where to find them:

Athenaeum Nieuwscentrum
Best place for the international press. Not only all the most important newspapers and weekly magazines but also a very good choice of fashion and photography magazines. Address: Spui 16.

American Book Center - ABC
American bookstore AmsterdamAn exciting place led by intelligent and friendly people. On its bright new location, American Book Center has a less space, so the scale became more human and the choice is even more exciting. Good for discoveries of unknown, small publications with a mainstream publications always well represented. Wide selection of travel guides and American magazines just at the entry. Address: Spui 12

thanx for starting the thread.
am looking for someone who knows the different stores in rotterdam

There is a big bookstore, like 4 floors in downtown Rotterdam close to the central station. It is called Donner something. They do not have fashion magazines but they do have a respectable fashion section in with the art books. I wouldn't make a trip to Rotterdam just for it but if you live there it is worth looking at.

There is also a fabric store nearby there. I am really sorry but I can not find the name and I don't know the city very well. I tried looking on Googlemaps but I couldn't figure it out. Basically you come out the central station and get onto the street with the big black building and the casino. You keep walking on that street towards the casino. The corner that the casino is on you turn right to get to the bookstore. To go to the fabric store keep walking and turn right at the next street. The fabric store is on the same street as the Rotterdam information store. It was a pretty good store, there is a large selection of various fabrics. I didn't get much time in there so I can't answer any questions.

Apparently there is an outdoor market in Rotterdam that sells lots of fabric on certain days as well but I don't know about it.

can you elaborate on which brands you are interested in locating?

Hi, is there any further information on brands like Dries Van Noten, Martin Margiela etc.? No shopping centres! Just nice shops. Or any nice shoe shops? Visiting here soon.

Also looking for tips on vintage furntiure/flea markets! Help!
H.

For shoes you can try Shoebaloo in the P.C. Hooftstraat! They sell brands like Miu Miu, Lanvin, Chloé, Balmain, Botega Veneta etc.

You should also visit RAAK (at Leidsestraat 79)! They sell brands like Twenty8twelve etc.

And last but not least: SPRMRKT (at Rozengracht 191 - 193). They sell Acne, Gareth Pugh, Maison Martin Margiela, Comme des Garcons etc.

SPRMRKT is great, love it!

Me too! It's one of my favorite stores! Do you shop often in A'dam?

Not that often, mostly I sneak out the country and go to Belguim or Germany...

And here in Amersfoort where I live, there's nothing special to get, so I have to....

If you're going shopping in Amsterdam, you MUST visit De Negen Straatjes/The Nine Streets. They are nine little streets located around the Herengracht and Prinsengracht which all have very unique and cute shops. Even if it's just for windowshopping, it's great to walk around there. Here's the website:

Amsterdam does not really have big department stores like lafayette. The biggest and most luxuriest one is the Bijenkorf.
Bijenkorf is located ar the Dam/Damrak. LV, Gucci, Hermes etc. medium/small shop in shop stores

Metz&co located at the Leidsestraat 1-3 http://metzco.eu/category/designers/

Go to the PC. Hoofdstraat for all the luxury brands.

Any local brands that are worth checkin out?
