Animal Prints

I love the look of leopard prints..but it has to look real..the spots and the colour..if it doesn't it immediately looks tacky.
agreed. any big cat print must be true to nature or otherwise it just looks tacky and fowl. :yuk:

i love leopord print, but only for accessories at home...never to wear.

Sounds stylish to me:)

Animal print is always present in one form or another...I think you just have to find a way to include it without looking like Cruella De Ville

It just depends what the actual item looks like, and what else you wear it with, as with most things...sometimes it looks great, sometimes it just doesnt, i personally would only wear zebra and lepoard print, i dont like tiger/ cow/pony print etc :flower:

Animal prints can sometimes look nice and sexy. But, it's ridiculously hard to pull off and usually involves spending a lot of money on a high end product. So pretty much, I'd say don't wear animal prints. It's just way too risky.

I was talking with my friend last semister about how leopard print is in, and she thought is was absolutly terrible. I would say the situation is a little worse.
But Cavalli is great at making animal prints work for guys.

Found some pics of celebs in animal prints... I still can't dig... (credit: people.com)

(this is a more unusual one)

Major bump!!!

I've been loving a hint of animal print this season... a little bit of it never goes out of style. I'm been trying to find affordable alternatives - H&M has a few offerings this season.

I'm posting again because five years ago on the first page I posted that they were a big NO. Hah. Shows how your fashion tastes change with time (and age).

Here are some affordable animal print finds in stores now:

^They have always been a no go for me.
But I've realized that the prints I don't like are mostly zebra, snake and leopard.
There are a few exceptions though. I sometimes like it if it's a bit more original, for example the print on Mischa Barton's dress in post #48, I rather dig that print. I guess I sort of like it if it's in non-realistic colours as well. Like Christopher Kane did it in his ss 09 collection.

^ Thanks for the reminder of that! I actually like that, as well.

^You are welcome :flower:
For some reason I haven't been able to get it out of my mind since I first saw it. In a good way that is

I like details with animal print but dresses or, God forbiden, the whole outfit with prints are just off

I think hints of animal prints (specifically leopard/cheetah) can spice up an otherwise conservative outfit. Especially if the print is on a tank or shirt and partially covered by a cardigan or blazer.

I like leopard print if done right. For some reason I LOVE this faux leopard fur coat from Topshop last year, even though it's not normally to my taste. I think you have to be very careful how you style such a bold piece so you look elegant, not tacky. I keep seeing it with big, loose curls, very natural makeup, true red nails, sheer black stockings (maybe with a back seam for extra glamour), and black heels. Not that I'm obsessing over this coat or anything . . . ahem

Topshop has a black and grey version in the online store now that I don't like so much. But it's my mission to find a similar coat this fall!

^^ I know what you mean, CarolineRose. For a long time animal prints were NEVER my taste... but I've really been loving the look - as long as it's paired with understated makeup and accessories.
