Ankle boots + skirts...

I didn't like this look so much at first, but it's grown on me. I like the playful, off kilter sense of proportions.

It does strike me as rather tricky to execute, though.

But
Softgrey and Curious, you guys really pull it off! Thanks for the pics.

I also like how it's styled here. With a short dress, tights, and high-heeled booties.

this is a favourite look of mine. it references some of my favourite styles- victorian [sort of a victorian cancan thing too], and the 80s of course [i like more of a classic french new wave slightly punk take on it]. it lets you be feminine and strong at the same time. if you get the particular skirt/boot combination right it is very flattering. japanese girls never seem to tire of this look and wear it so casually. i think they look great.

I was going to say I didn't like it, but softgrey's pic made me change my mind.

I think it's look better without the black socks-

I like this with nude colored boots like that, or with tights the same color as the shoes.

with black boots and bare legs though, not so much- very unflattering

I really love this look, Ive always liked the ankle boots , I think they go with every outfit if done right:blush: ! It only takes a bit of a "good eye" :innocent:

I have always loved this look but obviously its pretty tricky. I have short legs that are not as thin as I would like, so usually I do this look with black, opaque tights and a knee length skirt (that isn't fitted.) Another thing that works for me is having boots that arent close to the body, like slouchy or rollover boots. It just makes the leg look thinner in comparison...and of course having toned calves helps.

thanks so much tifa, cranky and stilleto...:flower:...

swan...that looks AMAZING!!!...
great style..
...

does that girl irritate anyone else?

she's too overexposed right now- I've seen her in about every advertising campaign ever lately

Even though she appears to have pulled it off, I can't help but giggle at the second picture :p awkwarddddddd.

Seriously though...I never thought much of the look till I saw this thread :) Might try it out myself sometime!

I'm quite afraid ankle boots make legs look bigger
that's why I haven't bought a pair yet :p

i love this look. i've done it before - mini, opaque tights, black boots. i heart ankle boots right now. they're flattering to the right leg shape!

I think maybe they make ankles look bigger, but maybe this is a blessing for those with larger thighs (better balance)?

I like the look, I think it's cute but I'm not very big on how Mischa put it together. I think it looks better as a street/casual look as opposed to like a dressy look.

i have to say . . . never been fond of this look
i can make an exception for these slouchy MJ boots . . .

What is MJ? I really like these boots...where can I find them

No not for me thankyou. I mean it can be pulled off, but most things can. It just never creates that 'ideal' fashion moment we all crave.

They don't know what they say :p
I think it is cool!

By coincidence I wore a skirt-thing with ankle boots:

Do you guys like it or not?
