Anna Nocon

Some collegiate newspaper from Cracow made an interview with Anna. As she said, she's studiyng American Filology during weekends. The second thing is that nobody recognizes her on the street

My sister will bring me the newspaper on Friday, so I'll translate it.

She's in Tokyo !
Merci Beaucoup F/W 07.08

So here's an interview (by Bartek Borowicz) from Eurostudent

The title is stupid to translate :innocent:

She’s 22. She’s studying American Philology at the Jagiellonian University (extramural studies: don’t know if it’s right in English, I can’t find that word ANYWHERE, but she’s studying during weekends, not regularly). She’s a model and works in Luxembourg, New York or Vienna most of the time. Her photos appeared in world-wide magazines such as Vogue, Cover or Elle. Anna Nocon talks about her career, models’ work and how to bring together work and studies.

Let’s start our interview with a question about your student life. You’re very busy. I believe you miss some student life
Anna: That’s true. I feel it, too. I don’t see my friends and family as often as I’d like to. I come home for a day, maybe two. I’m often so tired that I only have a bath and sleep. Fortunately, I have very forgiving friends. They keep me stay normal. I miss my student life, but... nothing is for free. Crazy life or a typical student one.

You are at extramural studies. If you had more time, would you choose daily studies?
Anna: I think I would not, I already got used to my rhytm.

How many times did you come to your classes by plane?
Anna: I believe it was 4 times which is a lot because I had 7 congresses so far. I like my studies very much. I still make sure it was a good decision to choose it. I like America, I think it has much more to offer in culture than we think it has. About the future... who knows, I have a lot of plans and ideas.

You fly from Poland a month before exams. How do you make it up? Do you have some special privileges because of your job?
Anna: Actually I don’t, at least I’m trying not to have. I will pass the exams before a term or in a correctional one. Fortunately, I don’t have a lot of them.

Do you think that advanced education is needed in that kind of business?
Anna: I think there’s need for intelligence and resourcefulness. But that’s what education guarantees

I will finish later

^ Thanks so much, I can't wait to read the rest!

here it goes, sorry for any mistakes

You live in a different world than a statistic student. May soda-water dash (?) into your head?
Anna: (laugh) Not anymore because it hasn't happened so far. I started my adventure quite late. It's different when a 16-years old girl leave home to see the World.

How many years will you have a chance to be on the top?
Anna: It depends on luck and getting older in a beautiful way (laugh). I think it's about 2-3 years. Maybe more.

We could see your pictures in a lot of magazines for the last months. Does Anna Nocon have her 5 minutes?
Anna: That's a fact. I had a very active year, I gave a lot of interviews and the media was interested in it. I'm not anonymous in models' world-that's sure. But I don't feel popular in my every-day life. Nobody recognizes me on the street.

There can be a feeling that models' world means big money
Anna: There's potencial. The best models earn great money. But it's about the luck. You can work a lot, but it doesn't mean you get a lot. Remember that we're often abroad because of our work. Everything is more expensive in there. Thousands of euros in Paris are not as valuable as they're in Poland.

So you're in a perfect position. You work abroad and spend the money in Poland
Anna: Yes, now it's like that, but I used to live in Paris and it wasn't that easy.

Watching fashion shows, I often have a feeling that models are not there to be admired. It's about to remember a model's outfit, not her face. Is a good model the one who doesn't look outstanding?
Anna: Yes, most of the time. It depends on a designer. One wants individuality, famous girls, the other prefers hangers (?) - girls that only walk wearing clothes. It's true that we often just wear clothes. It's not nice, but on the other hand, shows are great. We can make up for the anonymity during shootings where it's about the person, the face.

A lot of young girls dream of a model career, but they resign thinking their beauty is not appropriate. Is it better to convince them to try or they shouldn't do it if they don't feel the modeling?
Anna: Girls who usually want to be models are these which don't have big chances. The best girls don't think about it. If a girl doesn't feel it, why convincing her? Beauty is a matter of discussion. Let specialists judge this.

As a model, do you have to limit your eating?
Anna: I'm trying to. I shouldn't cross some standarts of body mass (laugh). But there's no pressure. Sometimes we can't be too skinny. I've been a vegetarian for few years now.

There's no need to be an expert in a fashion world to know models such as Naomi Campbell. You two appeared together.
Anna: Yes, but such stars are bug absents at the shows. They come, have their make-up done, there's a rehearsal, the show and then the star dissapears. She even comes for 5 minutes- just for the show.
