I have this really long but really thin shirt i got from nordstrom and it has elastic on the bottom so i usually just wear it with jeans like runched sort of but i wanted to wear it as a dress cause it's long enough when i pull it down but it's too thin so i was gunna wear it w/ tights.....uhmm are tights in???

Well, tights are most definitely in for men this fall and winter, but im not sure about the women side. But from my own opinion, tights are never out of trend, simple tights with a cute long shirt and/or shorts, flats and some eye-catching accessories and you are good to go :)

Well from a fashion perspective its on its last legs thankfully but if your lindsay lohan or the ditzoids who live in Socal , its not . Personally I have lost respect for them , they just look cheap , sl*tty and Jerry springer guest circa 1992 all that is missing is a faded sweatshirt with a faded husky logo and ketchup/mayo stains .

^I'd associate the term "leggings" with that description. And yeah, I've never been into leggings. Tights on the other hand---definitely still in style. Black tights are classic---for absolutely any age. There were a ton showing up in the advertisements in the most recent Vogue. The thick, textured ones in the D&G adverts have me thinking they're going to be very big this winter. I'm definitely for it. I'll be wearing black tights with my Oxford pumps as much as possible.

Wear what you want. You don't need to be in trend, it still can look wonderful.
But BTW: tights are never out. They're timeless.

^^ I agree with that. I dont see tights as a trend

leggings can look fresh
they can also look horrible

one good example is the way marni did it 2 falls ago

black tights will always be a classic and tights are a staple for winter , but lycra spandex footless legging HELL NO , im sorry but the only place these have been a staple classic is in the trailer park of Interstate 30. Leggings have gone even more ridiculous with rubber laytex to gold lame ...which are so trashy i cant even describe in words

tights are timeless. i'd stay away from footless tights. too hit and miss tbh

I love how sheer tights are returning to the scene... but I think I will always be an opaque tights girl.

tights arent a trend they are a staple to me this is like asking are knickers in fashion ?? haha

i like footless tights aka leggings actually. i find them very useful when i'm traveling to countries where it's offensive to show too much skin but where it is too hot to wear long pants and jeans. so long as a person doesn't wear leggings as pants, i think it's fine.

:blink:What do you people wear in the winter to keep the legs warm with dresses if they were not in? I thought tights were a necessity.

But I HATE leggings, in my opinion they only look good on models. And footless tights are even worse.

I still love them. I cant wait to bring out all my colored tights (& my black ones). I cant remember if I bought orange but if not they are on my list to buy for sure... I have every other color.

Well first I'd like to emphasize the "there's a difference between tights and leggings" arguement.

That said, "high fashion"-wise leggings are just about played out. They've hit the streets strongly and have gotten used and abused in all kinds of manners. Regular, day to day wear, I believe they are still going quite strong. I don't attribute this to celebrities or magazines, but to the fact that they still hold their own charm and merit to some people. And while, I would personally never even so much as touch the things even while they were so popular and touted, I think they can still be worn.

Overall, I think it represents an interesting shift in ideals as people start to get away from revealing clothing, like the sudden surge of empire waists, trapeze tops, and peacoats as less stopped being more, and "more" became more again.

In any case, I'd say they are in style. Yet they will always have naysayers as they did even in their peak days. Overall, fashion is about personal expression and flair, so if you think they look good, ROCK ON girl!

Tights (or if your like like me you may know them as "the thick stockings/pantyhose"), however, are considered more timeless and usually get a bit more cred and respect for some reason.

Tights are classic. They will always be in. Nothing makes legs look better, after all!
