We have a thread for cutlery, so I thought... why not a thread for bowls/dishes/plates/platters...
stuff you eat off of basically...

was just looking for stuff to contribute to another thread and found this cool bowl by Helia Jongerius on artecnicainc.com..

These and the above plates are all designed by Tord Boontje..
I think the subtlety of the colors on this set is probably really lovely in real life

The Boontje sets are beautiful. I love how the horse's mane and the deer's antlers extend out into extravagant branches. The detailing is so pretty...

Next time I go home I'll take pictures of my mom's collection of plates, bowls, etc. I think they were made in Switzerland 50 some odd years ago!

^^I would love to see those! :woot:

Personal pics are always great.. especially if they are from switzerland 50 years ago...
sounds like something special ^_^

i'm sure i'll find more to post in here soon...

Great thread, the 1st bowl is very pretty, I actually have a tiny vase with similar pattern where I put all of my make up brush in :">

I love the Biscuit collection stuff

I think John Derian's decoupage stuff definately fits. These skeleton plates are really cool

such cool stuff :woot:

the first example with the fixed chips are so great..
even though they are technically damaged there is something so elegant about the way that they have been repaired

beautiful! love this thread! so many beatiful plates and dishes! I'd love to start amassing them now but I move around so much I don't want to have to move them as well!

I remember looking at this online and thinking it was cool..
and now we have a thread it will work in so I figured I'd post since I just saw it again! :p

THORSTEN VAN ELTEN WAR BOWL by mosleymeetswilcox

Plastic toy soldiers are melted together to make up this bowl...
more decorative than anything I would think...

Button Trays and Button Bowls:

Ordinary buttons become extraordinary once they are stitched and knotted together to create these unique trays. These sturdy, yet pliable pieces are a versatile addition to any room.

I actually just ordered the medium sized tray as a gift for my mother for Christmas :santa:

I love those Tord Boontje plates... I would happily spend a fortune on such things, if they wouldn't look so out of my place in my house. Some day... :p

I love the button dishes. They are really something. However, i don't know if i believe their "sturdy" claim. they look so delicate

strawb i really love the colors of the habitat plates

i've found that i really respond to sets of plates that have different designs on each plate but that clearly go together..
like the tord boontje plates and the Concetta Gallo plates..
they've got that common thread but i feel like you're getting more design and variety for your money which is always great..

i would love to get quirky, fun, creative plates and bowls when i get my own place..
it's just a good way to get a little added pleasure from everyday tasks/occurrences (like eating and washing dishes) ^_^
