Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2012

Versace gets much more hate than Balenciaga, imo.

that's cause someone told the kids that high fashion can't and shan't be sexy. although i'm always on the fence about Donatella, since she can give us either something spectacular or viciously vile.

(see what i did there? lol)

Too damn literal. I don't think it is ugly but it certainly is a reminiscent of tackier times that do not need to happen again.
Some pieces work as separates. I like that yellow turtleneck on Milou, very chic with the earrings; the black leather skirt with the laps on the front, or the jacket on Marte - but the styling is way too distracting.

How sad

This is too literal a translation of fashion circa 1984 that was pedestrian, mall, bland, unimaginative, mass-produced and ill-fitting. These few looks resemble costumes from an 80s sitcom.

Nothing to get worked up over, since these look like he has not even bothered to make an effort-- just boring and lazy. Any scenester has already been through these looks a few years ago.

Whatever.

It's sad to see what has become of the House of Balenciaga in recent years. I have no idea what is going on with Nicolas and the design team. Balenciaga is going down the drain. Nowadays, it seems they are trying so hard to be forward with unconventional and ill-fitting silhouettes and fabrications, but it isn't coming off as experimental. Rather, it seems as though they are doing it because they think they can for the sake of it. Everything is so over the top and obnoxious. Nicolas needs to stop forcing the futurism aesthetic. It's getting tiresome. He needs to go back to the utilitarian style for a change.

idk what must of been running through their heads when they thought this is nice

This is the side of fashion I despise. This collection is the epitome of pretentious, and for no other reason than for the sake of it. And the worst part of it, there will be people who will claim it's 'art' or those who will not care what it looks like but will put it on just because the label reads 'BALENCIAGA'. I honestly find this sort of 'fashion' worse and more offensive than anything that Ed Hardy puts out. Because unlike Balenciaga, Ed Hardy puts out trash with no pretenses, not trying to disguise it as anything other than. This on the other hand is trash, but since it's produced by the darling of the fashion world under a HF label, it's all of a sudden some sort of edgy/new/original take of _____________ (fill in the blank).

Ugh.

^I'm sure all the editors "loved" it

His best collection was Fall 2008. Go back to that, Nicolas. Go back to that right now!!!

^Of cours they "did". bt ia gree with you there was something so romantic but on the same time futuristic about that era that made me spechless...and now its this mess

it was the EIGHTIES! NOTHING in the 80s was chic. NOTHING.

This is NOT late-80s-- this is so distinctively 1984 by way of terrible mall-fashion trendiness. Just watch "Night of the Comet". I was looking through some old issues of GQ 87-88, and there were some very dynamic editorials with both men and women; the women's wear were so cool-- Gaultier, Montana, Gigli, Ferre, Donna Karan... All very 80s in their silhouette, but also so sleek and clean, nothing like this mess at Balenciaga. This really looks like it was conjured up by 20-year-old scenesters with vintage clothes and staged in 2008.
