wow I'm so happy for tasha she looks gorgeous
Flawless skin, skinny body, face of a teen, and visible embarassed in front of mediatic invasion for the launch of a big campaign.
Sasha Pivovarova, 23 years old, new icon of Biotherm, is all a smile in the hall of Hotel Fouquet in Paris, but she doesn't hide her embarassement so well.
On a big screen there are the images of her nude in a bath of milk, almost the same color of her skin.
"It was very funny. We were on the pink sand of Harbor Island, Bahamas: sometimes i went out milk and i run in the sea".
Student of Art in Moscow, she didn't imagine to become one of the 10 most wanted models when a friend photographer suggested her to go to Img Acency in New York. The great career made her leave her studies, but the passion for painting is still.
It's not rare to see her sit down during a shooting or in the backstage of runways with her pencils and colours in hands, while she paints.
"Can i make for you a self-portrait of me for Vanity fair?", she asks, almost apologizing. "I am better in drawing than in talking".
Indeed the conversation is not her best, but her eyes and smile talk better.
Steven Meisel and Peter Lindbergh, the 2 photographers that have enphasize more her fragile beauty, talk about her as a shy and deep person with a strong soul for art. Not by chance, Prada, the most intellectual brand, chose her more than once for its campaigns.
In her future, Sasha doesn't have doubt, surely she won't become one of those models that become actress. "I want to open my own gallery of art in Brooklyn or in Moscow: this is what i want to do in the future", she always says.
Sasha, does your artistic side help you in modelling?
I can't survive without drawing, so often i take some fast drawings when i am in my travels. this way any emotion will be lost. this is a good solution to win the annoying pauses and the long travels that my job has. For me drawings is a kind of meditation: it gives me strenght.
A way to escape?
Not only. When i have a particular feeling with the photographer, i suggest for example the colors of the make-up and i try to understand the right pose for him.
What do you like of your job?
Most of all i like the meetings, i love to share emotions and atmosphere of the shooting. And then we models are very lucky and they treat us very nicely: for example when i was in that bathing of milk i felt myself like a baby.
did your life change very much since when you was a student in Moscow?
No, it is always the same.
It's not so easy to believe..
Believe me, i am a simple person, that loves to dream: an activity that can be done everywhere.
You live in Brooklyn with your husband, fashion photographer Igor Vishnyakov. Do you like to party etc?
Rarely. And only for good reasons. We are both very busy, so when we are alone we share and enjoy our time together.
Why did you accept to represent Biotherm?
Because i have lot in common with it: it's a brand that thinks of health and good. I adore who talks of simplicity: it means that it has a creative and happy soul.
lexposure.netSasha Pivovarova's smile just says it all: Biotherm is the brand for her. Though no stranger to beauty campaigns, Sasha’s personality truly shines through the SS09 Biotherm campaign, where she leads us to believe fully in the refreshing and cleansing nature of the products. Rather than express more stoic emotions like her Giorgio Armani cosmetics ads, her eyes here tell the story of a genuine experience. I certainly wouldn’t object to feeling that good after undergoing a routine facial-cleansing!
It is also a change for the L’Oreal-owned brand, which has tended to employ more nameless models as spokespersons previous to this year. But as L’Oreal attempts to mold Biotherm into a more sophisticated, lucrative skincare label, it is likely that we will see more models of Sasha’s caliber gracing their campaigns in the future.
