Brad Renfro Busted for Drugs

Child star actor Brad Renfro, 23, was dressed in cargo pants and what appeared to be a military uniform when he appeared on Spring. He was taken into custody after he tried to buy heroin from the officers, police said.

Undercover detectives posing as drug dealers launched the first phase of a new LAPD crackdown on skid row's massive drug marketplace Thursday by arresting 14 buyers, including Hollywood actor Renfro.

Renfro began acting as a child, gaining notice in "The Client," the 1994 movie version of the John Grisham novel. He went on to star in several independent movies, including "Telling Lies in America" and "Bully," and co-starred in "Sleepers" and "Tom and Huck," in which he played Huck Finn.

He was booked into jail Thursday evening.

I had a Seventeen magazine (dated... what... maybe '97?) with him on the cover, and I thought he was the hottest thing! Back then.

I thinks this says it all...
Most of them can´t cope with not beeing popular/rich/famous, after all it´s gone and turn into junkies or drunks.

Is that really the main reason? I'd never really thought about why most child actors are like that. But it'd seem to me that since they're around the Hollywood drugs at such a young age, they don't know what they're getting into, and have no idea how to cope with or limit anything, so it wrecks them moreso than the adult actors who usually know more about what they're taking and so forth. Many child actors are known to have been heavily into drugs while successful, so perhaps it's simply part of the reason they sink into obscurity in the first place. Then when you see them ten years later and see how wrecked they are, that's when it really hits you.

This is interesting to think about.

Actor Brad Renfro was arrested by Florida cops in August 2000 and charged with grand theft after he and a buddy tried to boost a yacht from a Ft. Lauderdale dock. Renfro, who was 18 at the time of his bust, pleaded out and was sentenced to two years probation and ordered to pay the yacht’s owner $4000 in damages.

Brad Renfro, Macaulay Culkin and Edward Furlong are all perfect examples of childhood actors make a huge decline in their lives and succumb to drugs. I personally think it is such a huge shame.
