Catwalk Trends F/W 06.07

^ yes, I like it a lot, when its done with washed out colors... esp for leggings.....

animal print in general is going to be a big trend...!

I know it's FW, but there is a bit excess of fur on the NY and Milan runways (and not the all-in-fur pieces but rather decorative fur use)

So far the biggest trend (and probably one of the more general ones) seems to be a newfound severity coming into fashion. It started to show up last fall in the Victoriana/Edwardiana mood and continued into sping in the architectural lines courtesy of the Japanese influence, lots of patent leather, strict belts, platforms, and sharp shouldered jackets. It was all mixed with soft details like lace, eyelets, puff sleeves....

It seems like a lot of the hard elements made it through to this season and are creating a stronger, more powerful mood.

I love it personally, it's something I've missed in fashion and I love that it's coming back.

There seem slike a big 90's influence and early Versace style

Just some examples,

Alessandro Dell'Acqua

Boudicca

Donna Karan

Giles Deacon

Gucci

Jil Sander

Narciso Rodriguez

Prada

Proenza Schouler

Versace

Despite the looks I posted, the mood definitly isn't restricted to all black (as that Narciso look demonstrates) but I do think that it works best done in dark, somewhat monochrome colors. Black, greys (charcoal, pewter, steel, concrete), white, dark blues and purples.....I'm thinking colors of the NYC skyline, all of the metal and tinted glass and fabrics with a bit of sheen to them also seem right, but balanced with something very matte of course.

i seriously don't see many *new* trends...
most just feel like an extension/evolution of what has already been happening...

which is both good and bad imo...
good-because it means you can just build on your wardrobe...
bad-because there isn't much that is very inspiring...

**let's see what paris brings...

the only thing i really see that might be finally starting to take hold is the slouchy pant...we've seen it on the runway for awhile now...
but i think we may finally see people start wearing this now...(fw 06)
people are getting sick of the skinny skinny thing already...
by the time fall rolls around they just might want to slip into something slouchy...
i think we are going to see a lot of loose, slouchy shorts for summer...
and this will be a logical transition for most people...

just a feeling i have...:flower:

also feel like skirts are getting shorter...
a couple of inches above the knee...

slouchy pants

i see them everywhere on all the major catwalks , marc jacobs, herrera, CK, rodriguez, Gucci, Fendi , Cavalli, Lepore, DVF and the list goes on , marc jacobs take was the best made its so glamourous and cute.

I see lots and lots of gold at Viktor & Rolf, Dries van Noten, Sophia Kokosalaki...

yes absolutely...:flower:

...but it's more than that isn't it...?
is is 3/4 sleeve jkts worn with a longer sleeved shirt underneath...
so it is 'layering' in a specific way....
which is definitely another trend...
layering...

:flower:

softgrey, i loved your comment in this thread, everyone picks up where pilati left off...definitely lots of emphasis on the waist...i still can't believe how influential pilati's debut is (still!!) proving to be:shock:
