Century 21

I went yesterday, I saw like 3 cloak shirts. They a bunch of viktor & rolf, hussien chalayan, gucci, marc jacobs. Ive never seen dior homme there.
Its not so hard to shop there, racks are labelled with the designers.

Does anyone know if C21 has a specific day when they get new stuff? Or do they get new things every day and just put them out on the racks?

thanks

Hi, i decided to start this thread because i will going to NYC for a class art trip in march and i plan do do some major shopping. one of the stores i read about was Century 21 and their great prices on designer stuff.

i just wanted some info on the things they sell there.

i hear that there are massive crowds there but how bad can it be if i go super early

I always go there when I go to NY except when I was there last week, I couldn't go. :( Of course, it is always crowded, but if you have some time to spend you can really find great bargains. The handbag selection is fabulous and located on the 1st floor.
I usually head to the 4th floor to check out women's evening wear, contemporary designer clothing, or European designers. This floor includes designers such as Juicy Couture, Free People, Joie, Paper Denim and Cloth, Diabless, Gucci, God Save the Queen, Dolce and Gabanna, Pringle, and much more. They also have cosmetics, jewelry, accessories--I think these 3 are on the 1st floor-- and lingerie elsewhere in the store. I've heard there is a household items section, but I rarely make it off the 4th floor and out of the shoe department which is in a separate "store" in the same building.

badda, don't go!! it's all crap, and it's crowded and dirty and the dressing rooms are disgusting and they don't have doors so you end up seeing ugly, fat and wrinkly naked people in thongs changing basically right next to you and the place smells bad... things aren't even marked down that much anyways!

^^When I go there are always doors on the dressing rooms--they may be old-timey saloon doors, but they are doors.

it sounds really bad. i just really want to get a really good deal on miu miu and prada flates and handbags

merged with the existing Century 21 thread

please remember to do a search before starting new threads..
thanks :flower:

In the dressing room, there aren't doors but curtains. It gets crowded really early, opens at 7:30 AM. But there's really nothing worth checking out and elbowing everyone in the huge crowd except maybe heading straight to the 4th floor with more designer goods. I would recommend going to more nontouristy stores in NYC. Check out the "Shop NYC" thread.

Century 21? That's a real estate company. I had no idea it was also a store.

this is a good question. anyone

I'm pretty sure they get new things every day or at least a couple times per week.

Century 21 is so hit or miss though - sometimes I skip the Manhattan store altogether and go to the one on Long Island. They have basically the same merchandise and its never crowded in the overwhelming way the Manhattan store gets.

It is not as good as some of the other bargain basement stores. I am thinking of TJ Max in particular but then again I got my mink jacket from there a couple of years ago for $600 reduced from $4,500 - so I can't really complain!

^^ Please, do yourselves a favor and don't go to the one in Manhattan. There are stores in Brooklyn and NJ as well. Its really just awful choices, prices in the Manhattan one, plus its full of pushy tourists. If you go to the C21's outside of Manhattan they are always well stocked and relaxed. I've bought $9 Helmut Lang shirts, and got my K by Karl Lagerfeld trenchcoat for $79, not to mention the Dries Van Noten shoes I've got there for a pittance. I think C 21 gets bad mouthed so much because of how awful and high priced the Manhattan branch is.

The TJ Maxx stores and Marshalls here are just awful too, worse even. The clothing is really bad and the products they have for sale look they fell off a truck, dragged through mud and trampled on. I'd pick Century 21 over them any day.

And the C21 in LI has curtains if you're shy. I don't really care though if you just want to get in and change quickly its better than having to wait for a room, and its the same way with Loehmann's with the 'no curtains'. (Also, this is where I get all my deeply deeply discounted Vivienne Westwood).
