Hi guys, I love the look for the original silverado satchel, but python skin is a little too dear for me and will have to settle for a leather one if I do get one. What are your views about the leather satchel? Do any of you have pics of the leather satchel in tan leather?

I had a tan leather medium original satchel and returned it. The style was nice enough (I ended up with the larger, open top tote instead) and the color gorgeous, but I found the inside shell so prone to scratching that every time I reached in the bag to get something just a brush of finger would scratch the leather. I spent more time rubbing out the scratches than I did using the bag. Scratches don't bother people who like that distressed look, but I couldn't deal. The tote style has no zipper,, and even though the inside shell is the same leather it is flush with the bag. I can reach in, get my stuff, and not worry about scratching. I also prefer the look of the tote (style discontinued for the newer, uglier ones) over the zippered satchel.

You would have to see both bags side by side to understand what I'm typing though!

Thank you! Same thing happened to me when I saw the S06 bags. Now that I have the large, I keep thinking about a darker chocolate in medium... (bad, bad, bad...the bag I have is amazing...I do not need another one...SoCal, get opimum use of the bag you have...it does not need a sister...)

^ Thanks lily, positano. I tried mediums in green and butterscotch python (ugh! shipped site-unseen...the downside of phone transactions) and medium doctors in chocolate and black python last fall. I am absolutely thrilled that I waited for the traditional satchel in the brown tones!

One only needs one python silverado, right?

My two are the Gold Medium Python from Spring-Summer '05 and the Silver/Brown Large from Fall '05-'06...

Yea..mine is the gold medium (same as baghag!) from S/S 05 and the medium maroon from the same season.

SoCal, if you really are tempted, it may be more worth your while to get the Silverado in two different colours, so that you can achieve different looks.

I have the chocolate/cognac python...the other I was most attracted to was the darker chocolate brown... These may be too similar(?)...I am also somewhat interested in black, but have not seen IRL... I tend to like the darker colors...

Would you just stick with one brown tone?
If my first is large (which I love)...should I think about a second large or a medium?

So many thoughts...I don't want to completely over do it with two bags that are too similar, but I am really liking the silverado again...

I love the look of big bags but thought the medium Silverado would be roomy enough for me because I don't carry my life my bag. It was a tight squeeze inside, even with the pockets. You might be disappointed with the medium if you normally tend to gravitate to large bags.

I have two black bags (because I felt I should have a couple basic black bags) and they rarely leave the house. So, go with a color that you'll use a lot even if it is in the same family as your other bags.

I got my dark chocolate medium in from nordstroms today....and I was a little sad.

apparently it was a return and yes its still in great condition....but like the leather part....mine that came in way python by the way....some of hte leather part by the zipper...it isn't....perfect...its light light light stratched....it doesn't look used just handled.

i think black python is blah -- the browns show off the beauty of the python the best IMO. so if browns compliment your wardrobe and you love both then get both. i see a cognac brown being different enough from a chocolate brown to justify both.

Ideally it is best to get 2 different colours for more versatility. But you have to love what you buy too..if the two browns each gives the python silveradoes a different feel, why not?

And to be honest, if Chloe' ever did the original cognac again, I would get it in a heartbeat, even though it's a brown tone as well!

I was also hesitant in getting a second silverado as I felt I should be spending my money on different bags, but this is one of my favourite designs from Chloe and to me, that justifies everything

As for the size, just get the one which suits your lifestyle the best!

P.S. I saw the black python IRL...I agree with Lilygirl, the black does not do justice to the python skin!

I just received an ivory colored silverado from Neiman's. I can't decide whether to keep it or not ... it's my first silverado. Python isn't for me. I was looking for a white bag but this is turning out more off-white. Any pros or cons on ivory?

Do return if you are not happy! I had a leather silverado previously and the leather did get light scratches over time.

yeah the python is perfect but the inside leather part...where the zipper is...is just has the problem. I think the leather is just soft
