Christian Dior F/W 2007.08 Paris

Not really my style, but it's still cool regardless. Some pieces are not so great but others are gorgeous, I esp like look 7 in post #92. I love the ankle straps and the ones worn with the green ostrich coat.

Thank you very much for posting the entire collection brian ^_^

It puts it a little more in perspective though. The colours really seem to be waaaay too diverse and bright. It would have looked a lot better in black, grey, darkblues, darkgreens and darkpurple/aubergine. Some of the fur needs to go...some pieces look ill-fitting and the dresses and skirts that refer to the fantastic dresses from couture that were on Debra Shaw and Morgane Dubled (you know) look very badly finished. As I said, the clothes that look least like the couture show are best and the over-referenced copies sometimes look pretty bad.

Hmmm...I'm kinda losing my enthusiasm :p

^ My thoughts exactly. Now it could be that the pictures are out of order, so the whole color story isn't being told like it was presented, but still...too garish. The neons, and that aserbic yellow color are out of place in the collection. I really don't see a lot of cohesive units. Its almost like 50 dresses went down the runway and that was that.

I've lost my enthusiasm.

It's a beautiful show and its very Galliano but....is it really wearable? I mean it's mostly coats and dresses, which are extravagantly decorated.

Last season was much much subdued, but much more refined and defined. This collection just seems like a chance to rebel against last season's simplicity.

It's a beautiful collection especially the last green dress.

This could be the most sophisticated rtw collection in years. Most of the outfits look so dated and elegent that they cannot be worn outside balls. I don't know if its a new trend though, given that Marc Jacobs did 70s' vogue paris looks merely 20 days ago.

i hate this.

the shoes are ok, but nothing makes sense on this collection. I don't even see any references on his past Couture show, maybe some folds here and there, but this collection doesn't have a theme that screams out loud. It's just scattered, sorta Marchesa cookie cutter designs.

Im not saying it looks like Marchesa, for those waiting to take a bite on what people say, just the theme-less collections with ok looking dresses.

I don't like this collection at all, and im very very sad for Dior, i thought Galliano was going towards another direction, and leaving the outrageousness strictly for couture.

oh well.

Ehhhh. Not as big on it after seeing the whole thing. I liked the couture show much, much better, and the colors are actually pretty terrible. I really dislike the pieces that are direct references to the couture show, especially the fuschia dress on Lily Cole that looks like the RTW version of the red dress Morgane wore during the couture (see my avatar again.) The green dresses remind me of the lettuce-looking ensembles from the F/W 06 couture, too, and I wasn't a fan of those the first time around.

Agree...

Im not sure what Im thinking on this...

Im at a stage with Dior and Galliano that the theatrics just arent the same as they use to be, I was actually enjoying the simplicity of the last PAP collection, but this seems way too much like couture, and I dont know...It seems a bit too heavy. As Mr-Dale said, some of the clothes least like couture are the better, I like the coat on Lara Stone (black) but this really isnt Ready-to-wear, it seems way to Haute Couture, and some of the pieces are almost identical to the couture show, and its just boring really

Usually Im all excited over Dior...but this time...not as much, I've learnt that I dont need theatrics for good clothes, Eurgh, I really dont know about this at all  I cant even see any theme or period standing out with this, it just seems a bit too all over the place, but saying that, I think this whole season in general isnt too fantastic, I'll have to think about this one.

Wow! The ONLY Dior collection I've ever liked! He's mixed JUST the right amount of practicality and art into this collection.

Exactly JR, my feelings exactly...He'd better deliver next Saturday, because

Hmmm.. I don't want to say I don't like it, because that's not true. I like it, it's just so much like the haute couture show that it feels like he's not saying anything new. Almost every look has something that looks incredibly like it in the couture show. I was expecting something new and different from John, but I guess that a collection stolen from one of the best couture shows of the season isn't that bad. Maybe I'll like it more later.

i wish he had shown more restrain with the colors, this could have been spectacular...but the colors are much too busy and take center stage.

that being said, i really do appreciate that he did show restrain in other aspects (hair, makeup) and while still putting his spin on the runway looks, he didnt make the models look clownish.

this collection does indeed look like couture, and i think the shapes are extremely classic dior, without feeling stuffy and old (thanks to the interesting shoes/bags) this collection isnt very wearable, but i doubt this is what will be in the stores.

the whole collection though is a strong one, and i think galliano should be proud.

its nice,

but i feel when he repeats hc you see essentially are getting a cheaper version of hc- all the same ideas which aren't new, as well as less exciting fabrication.

^^ as i see it it's a wise commercial strategy!! everybody dreams about couture and this is a babystep closer than they'll ever get...
as i said with boring-armani (two words that seem to be an alltime couple these days) it's too formal... of course it looks good! but it's not balanced as a pret-a-porter collection!
