everyone's dying of excitement now, wait forty years for the 100 year anniversary! ...

lol you say you got an invitation card and everyone is like wow....haha

This is kind of a big deal for me. Galliano is my favorite designer. that aside I've always loved the rococo period and everything associated with it. I've been to Versailles; I have the dvd's, books etc. Now for the two to come togeather again is priceless. I may not be able to go to the show but I Must Own An Invitation... I'd at least like to see it

lol i hope Galliano comes out with some kind of craps that disappoints all of us here.....

I'm guessing the theme of the collection will be based on the history of Dior and how Christian Dior Changed fashion while he was a live. A Marie Antoinette inspired collection is obvious, but don't be shocked when it isn't because we all know that John Galliano never wants to make it seem obvious. Just because its the palace of Versailles it doesn't mean that his inspiration was Marie Antoinette or French royalty. It can also be the group of women that marched into the palace demanding cake! at the start of the French revolution.

I disagree he already did a collection inspired by the history of Dior: Fall 05 Couture. Personally I think it could be inspired by rococo which is defined as a combination of the French rocaille, or shell, and the Italian barocco, or Baroque style. Due to Rococo love of shell-like curves and focus on decorative arts.

-or-

The influence international trade had on 18th century fashion i.e. Japonisme and Chinoiserie.

No matter what the collection turns out to be I would bet anything on it being just as extravagant and opulent as the 18th century was.
