Christian Dior Haute Couture F/W 07.08 Versailles: Pre-Show Discussion

(NEW YORK) Christian Dior’s couture show on July 2—part birthday blowout, part supermodel reunion—is guaranteed to be an extravaganza of unparalleled status. The all-night festivities, to which 1,000 celebrities, clients, and editors have been invited, are taking place at L’Orangerie de Versailles, and will commence at sunset under a dress code billed as “extreme elegance.” As for the show itself, Galliano, who recently went to Sevilla, Spain with his studio team, said Thursday night at his eponymous men’s show in Paris that the undoubtedly blockbuster collection will be inspired by Dior’s 60th anniversary. For one, it will boast the longest runway of any fashion show in history. It will also be dedicated to Steven Robinson, his unwavering right-hand man, who died suddenly in April at the young age of 38.
A true supermodel reunion is also expected, with names like Kate Moss, Gisele Bündchen, Linda Evangelista, and Naomi Campbell all rumored to be re-emerging onto the catwalk. A gaggle of the bold-faced models will also host the afterparty in the gardens of Versailles.
Jeremy Healy, a veteran of Galliano’s runway productions, will continue to mastermind the music, while Michael Howells will oversee set design and Alex de Betak will produce the show. What’s more, Vogue Italia has enlisted Steven Klein—who just signed on to shoot all of Details’ forthcoming covers—to document the show and afterparty for an upcoming issue. The famed photographer is expected at Versailles over the weekend to walk the venue and familiarize himself with the space. To accommodate Klein's needs, Dior has even constructed a special booth on the side of the runway for him to work out of.

omg omg omg!!!

I cant wait!!!

Hope Naomi really is on this show.

I wonder who the first face is gonna be? All those SUPER models... it must be hard to choose.

Oh gosh, I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't WAIT!
It's going to be so amazing.
Hopefully.
Galliano's put the expectations through the roof with this one, I hope we won't be disappointed!

Though to be honest I don't really want the supers on the runway, stealing the light from the other girls....they've had their chance to shine, you know?

I would prefer it if he'd use super-/topmodels of this century... Gemma, Sasha, Eugenia, Daria...

agreed, MsRoyalIT. I don't liek it that they are still so hyped.

I'm sure...100% sure...he'll integrate the supers of today within the supers of yesterday....the supers of the 90's won't be able to fill what will probably end up being a 30-40+ look show!

What REALLY sucks is that I have summer school tomorrow from 7:50 to 1:00 () which means I have to suffer for 5 hours, anxiously awaiting my return home to see the show! The pics probably won't be up until about 10-11ish here in Los Angeles, CA. It's hard enough waiting for tomorrow, it'll be torture to wait till 1:00 to see the pictures!

By the way
POST number 800!!!!!!:woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:

Does dior book all the models for the day???????
then how about other designers????

Designers showing on Monday are ANNE VALERIE HASH, CHRISTOPHE JOSSE, FELIPE OLIVEIRA BAPTISTA, ADELINE ANDRÉ and DIOR... I believe Dior and Anne Valerie Hash are the only ones casting a lot of "top" girls... models are required to arrive 8hours before the dior show, which starts at 7pm so that's 11am... Some girls might have time to do both shows (AVH starts at 10:30am), since obviously they don't need 8 hours for EACH girl

Dior's the only major show tomorrow, so it'll work out fine. The girls getting cast for Dior wouldn't walk for the other designers in question anyway.

24 hours to go! :buzz:

Edit: You beat me to it, taben!

^ Morgane & Eugenia (the only ones i remember but i'm sure there's more) walked both the Dior and the AVH shows last season

Right, Ben... And thanks for the information about the time, I didn't know that yet (too lazy to look it up :ninja: So that means I'll see pics not until Tuesday
I'd love Zhenya and Morgane in both shows

^ i thought Dior started at 8 but i just read it's 7pm on the schedule. Some people said the first pics should arrive about 1h30 after the show ends, so that could be 10pm (since the show will probably start late)...
Backstage pictures taken while the hair and make up are being done might even pop up earlier, since the girls are supposed to be there for 8 hours...not before the show starts though, unless they want to ruin the surprise :ermm:

Yes, many of them did, but there'll obviously be plenty of relatively high profile models not getting cast for Dior (especially if Galliano's bringing in the supers). And like you said, presumably not everyone one will have to be there exactly 8 hours beforehand.

I was just speaking in general terms. :flower:

^^ alright... I'd hope so much for that to be true  So that I could see at least SOME pictures.

Well if its going to be the longest runway show in history I guess then we should expect the pictures to come much later than normal, I doubt this will be the average 15 minute show...

yeah, but i remember Felipe Oliveira Baptista did use some high-profile models on his show last season too...

yeah sometimes some girls are hungry for money and will walk about every show :p but anyways i doubt any girl would say no to a Dior couture show just to be able to walk 3 other shows (unless it's chanel, givenchy and gaultier  )

actually, the show can't be "too" late, because it's outside and they're looking for the sunset, if i'm not wrong

i doubt the sun will be 1 hour late like some VIP

but because it's at Versailles, maybe the photographers will have to return to Paris to send their pics to the agency (i don't know if Versailles Castle is a WIFI spot)

^^^^ I'm so stupid. I read that literally (as in the longest runway ramp).

Oh, why can't it be tomorrow already!

 thanks for the info Jey :flower:

@ Plato's Cave: so did i, but i actually think that's what they meant :ninja:
