Christian Dior S/S 10 Paris

I feel like Dior has been very uninspiring in the last few years. Couture is always fun, but the RTW is very one note. Its very close to Valentino which I do not like. I don't love it or hate it.

Not crazy about this.
It's like he revisited the SS08 collection, the old hollywood glamour vibe, the sheer babydoll dresses, the glamorous gowns...nothing really oustanding.
I cannot believe last 3 RTW collections have been so uninspiring and mediocre.I want the crazy moments at Dior again :judge:

rtw and even HC have been all the same and quite disapointing these past two years. And this collection isn't something new. I do really miss the old Galliano. Curiously, i feel like his own brand has been becoming better whereas Dior has been doing down.

Wheres the attitude? I also don't see why anyone in the press seems to comment on such a blatant turn of events, I'm aware they used to complain about some of Gallianos more theatrical experiments but I'm certain that this can't be what they wanted the most inspired man in fashion to become, and yet not in one single show review by Hilary Alexander in the telegraph does she so much as make comment! If Bernard Arnault is behind this, I hope he and his LVMH empire crumbles to ruins!

^Read Suzy Menkes' review...she tackled the problem pretty well.

Hmm, I give it a 7.7 out of 10. Curious about the soundtrack.

Well it reminds me of the haute couture collection he showed July, with the same color palette (NOT a good thing!) but toned down, thankfully. It's nothing special, but overall it's pretty nice, and much better than SS09. I hate the lingerie idea and the sheer fabric concept, but I'm a sucker for Old Hollywood Glamour, and I think it was incorporated well. I love the hair and makeup, though I'm not too keen on the pastel shadow, and the jackets are very nice. The details are nice as well, and I love most of the evening gowns, especially the one Toni Garrn wore
It does look a little Valentino-esque, I also see it. I didn't know that Valentino and John were friends, that's kind of nice to know ^_^ I am curious as to how John for Valentino would go; I don't think he could be any worse than those two new designers (no offense to any fans of them).
I think LVMH has also given up on John. I'm just getting weird vibes from the Arnault guy-I dunno if he's being frugal or whatever. But he seems to be stifling John, or maybe he's given up on him, I dunno. I won't give up on John though-he'll always be one of my favorite designers because he's left me more than enough work to ogle over :p

I really want old Galliano back this is way to similar to HC and last winter and the season before that and that:angry: of course it is beautiful and impeccably done but still leaves me wanting more.

Well just because it was kabuki on the runway does not necessarily mean you would have to step outside of the house that way. I would hope one would have more personal style than to wear an entire runway look head-to-toe.....

And like I said, it's not about the theatrical. There are ways to strike that balance between what is wearable and modern with what is covetable, intriguing, and specific to a designer's true vision. John is too much of a lively person to be fully in this. -_-

I know its just styling on the runway and believe me when I say that I liiiive for the old Dior shows. It just hurts my feelings when people say negative things about Johns designs because I can appreciate anything he does no matter what direction the label he's working for is looking to go. I guess I'm just very passionate about John

Did he even try?
It's ok, but it's always ok... when will the next F.W 2007 be?
I'd like to know.

I love the colours and quite a few of the dresses. I just love Galliano, but I was hoping for a bit more dramatic pieces/ideas.
I feel like he's just being safe right now in this economy, making cloths he knows will sell. He'll be back to his over-the-top creative self soon enough.

There is something about this collection that is just so not-Galliano for Dior to me. Even in his other collections that were boring, there were still Galliano elements that stood out. I mean, these shoes are not interesting at all, the dresses could have been designed by anyone. I'm really saddened by this.

There must be something going on behind closed doors at Dior. I honestly can't see him at this fashion house anymore. These collections must be doing well though because he continues to keep churning them out.
