she is now in the campaign for marc jacobs. fashion is getting younger and younger....

its obvious any angelic face like that will be adorned by fashion but is she age appropriate? absolutely not! fashion keeps pushing for new things and i dont think hiring girls as young as dakota is a wise decision. this is just appalling.

^ i dont think theres anything wrong with it.
she's adorable, i cant wait to see her in the marc jacobs ads :)

its so wrong in SO MANY WAYS. marc jacobs target audience is upper class middle aged women. why are they using children? it is to youthify the brand and to set a new bar of youth. Are we not already brainwashed enough by this obsession of being young thin and being unhealthy to attain this? this is SO STUPID. i cannot believe you dont see anything wrong about it. Hey whats next Victoria Secret Juniors? Fashion should be more classy and I hope soon to try to get respect to well beings of others that they lost a long time ago.

She is such a precocious little girl.

I really hope Hollywood doesn't ruin her and she doesn't turn all sl*tty like LiLo by the time she's 16.

exactly. its not even a question of her being cute and adorable. its the projects that she chooses and how its going to affect not only her career but also the fans and audience of hers and the brand she is representing. These partnership is very inappropriate. Its like hiring a 15year old to appear in a retirement commercial but worse.

thats your opinion..and im not completely disagreeing with you,
BUT marc jacobs is known for their eccentric/strange and completely unethical ads.. it is quite possible that they are trying to traget a larger and younger demographic..but its impossible to determine any of this just from who they choose to use in their ads..i mean come on, they use grandmothers. and *IMO* (which im fully entitled to) dakota fanning, or whoever, has made some pretty wise decisions regarding her career thus far. so lets not jump to the gun just yet. this could very well be the start of something wonderful for her, and if its not, she's young enough to bounce back.

im afraid we'll just have to agree to disagree. ;)

I LOVE the photo's shot by Karl! I like that she dressing more grown up now and not like a 4 year old.

karl styled the shoot beautifullly, this young girl is so talented, shes the next meryl streep i think,it is however strange and disturbing to see her in those marc jacons ads,but the more i see them, the more i actually think how brilliant they are

I don't like Dakota and I surely don't like the idea of her becoming a fashion model in Marc Jacobs ads, but I'll readly admit that I probably don't like the idea because I'm simply not used to it. But there's nothing inherently WRONG with a young girl being depicted like this.

You cite our youth's pressure to be thin and unhealthy, but yet this has NOTHING to do with Dakota or age. They are two separate issues.

In addition, modeling for Marc Jacobs is a whole different avenue than your proposed Victoria's Secret Juniors. Dakota won't be pictured in Marc ads scantily clad; if anything, she'll be wearing layers and layers of Marc. Marc Jacobs as a label does not go anywhere near encouraging sexiness and promiscuity. If anything, the Dakota and Marc partnership will make our youth desire more expensive clothing, which is certainly unfortunate and perhaps can be viewed as wrong in its own right. But the partnership has nothing to do with any of the issues you cite plaguing our young ones today.
