Dakota Fanning

love the fact that she's not the standard of hollywood beauty, but her talent and cuteness will carry her through. She might be the Marilyn Streep of her generation.

I really like her outfit going to Kimmel (or is it coming out?). Anyway, it's totally something I'd wear.

Twilight's evil vampire Dakota Fanning shows her sweet side as she unveils adorable childhood photos

She may be convincing in her role as evil Volturi vampire, but Dakota Fanning reminded fans of her cute side during an appearance on The Tonight Show.

The 16-year-old showed pictures from her childhood album during an interview with Jay Leno last night while promoting The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

The accomplish actress showed a series of snapshots of her with a tennis racket and football and went on to reveal her parents hoped she would grow up to be a sportswoman.

'My mum went to college on a full scholarship for tennis, my dad played minor-league baseball and my grandfather was a quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.

'So before I started acting the plan for me was to be a tennis player - that was the plan for me and my mum had me in tennis classes.

'One day I went to her and told her I really love the outfits but its just too hot - its just too hot for me to play tennis and I didn't want to play anymore.'

Dakota said she then went on try football but soon found she didn't have the family gene for sport.

'I did play soccer and my team was called the Spice Girls, I was Baby Spice.

'I was playing in a game one day and I got the ball for the first time and I was so excited and I was running and running.

'There was nobody around me, I was thinking this is an easy game, then I kicked it into the goal and was so excited.

'I turned around and nobody was cheering for me and nobody was proud of me - and I then realised I'd kicked it in the wrong goal - so I quit soccer too.

'I was traumatised!'

The actress will next be seen in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which opens in theatres next week.
