Freshly graduated from high school studies, Dakota Fanning has opted to kick off the summer with a trip to New York City.

The "Eclipse" actress was spotted trying to hail down a taxi cab as she and her former pro tennis player mom, Joy, headed out to to enjoy an evening on the town in the Big Apple.

Meanwhile, Miss Fanning has landed herself another new gig - with the latest endeavor seeing Dakota named as the face of designer Marc Jacobs' new fragrance Oh, Lola.

Saying that he picked Fanning because she's "seductive and sweet" like his perfume, Jacobs added, "I've been a big fan of Dakota since the first time I saw her in a movie. When we were speaking about who to use in the Oh, Lola fragrance ads - I had recently seen The Runaways. Dakota was in it, and I knew she could be this contemporary Lolita, seductive yet sweet."

Happy about the offer, a humbled Dakota told WWD, "Every time one of Marc's fragrances comes out I run to the store to buy it. The moment I was asked to be a part of the Oh, Lola campaign, I was so humbled and said 'yes' immediately."

^Yeah. I've heard she was seen touring the NYU campus with admissions counselors.
Apparently, she was there at the same time as Emma Watson, so they both could be going there in the Fall.

She hasn't been confirmed to be going to NYU yet... she's also been seen touring other east coast universities. But I have a feeling she'll end up at NYU because NYC seems to fit her personality... also she could probably do some work/take meetings in the city, so it would be easier for her to balance school and work.

i like the last 2 outfits. green pants one is so,so cute and summery (i think those pants might be Zara cus my sis has seemingly identical ones) and the other one is cute, very cute.

but for whatever reason, Elle looks like the one who finished HS not Dakota, i always think of her as a 15 year old kid. dunno why...

Hello there, Haircut!

Dakota Fanning showed up on the set of Now is Good today sporting some seriously shortened hair. Dakota was joined at the on-location London shoot by co-star Jeremy Irvine.

The film is about a girl dying of leukemia who makes a list of things she wants to do before passing away. At the top of the list? Losing her virginity.

That's your cue, Irvine.

What are your thoughts on Dakota's cropped cut? Think she should keep the look after the shoot is through?
