Dakota Fanning

Everyone loves a good period piece, and Dakota Fanning and Emma Thompson are joining forces on the new 1850s biopic “Effie.”

In the film, Dakota will play Euphemia Gray, who married famed critic John Ruskin. Though Effie was gorgeous, her husband never consummated the marriage over five years because he was disgusted by her body. In the end, Effie falls in love with Ruskin’s protege John Everett Millais.

Meanwhile, Thompson plays the part of Lady Eastlake who takes Effie under her wing and helps her cope with her dysfunctional marriage.

Emma also wrote the script for the film. Producer Don Rosenfeld told press, “It’s Emma Thompson’s first original script after doing several fine adaptations, and it gets to the heart of Victorian England. The script for Effie was always brilliant, but sometimes these things take time.”

Making for the perfect choice as a face of the scent, Dakota Fanning is featured in the Oh, Lola campaign for Marc Jacobs' new perfume.

The "Sixth Sense" actress playfully posed in a pink-themed photo shoot with pictures below and behind the scenes video available above.

As for the new Marc Jacobs offering, Oh, Lola is described as having "top notes of effervescent raspberry, frais des bois and pear, a heart of peony, magnolia and cyclamen, and a drydown of vanilla, sandalwood and tonka bean."

Having been released this month, Dakota told WWD of the gig, “Every time one of Marc’s fragrances comes out I run to the store to buy it. The moment I was asked to be a part of the Oh, Lola campaign, I was so humbled and said yes immediately.”

Meanwhile, Jacobs dished on his latest scent, “We recolored the bottle and changed the juice. This Lola is more of a Lolita than a Lola, but we weren’t going to call the fragrance Lolita. Lola is more seductive; Oh, Lola is sensual, but she’s sweeter.”

Dakota Fanning is starting school at NYU in the fall, the New York Daily News reports. The student-run website nyulocal.com followed up on the 17-year-old's visit to the school last spring, and sure enough, a search for the Runaways' star's name brought up an NYU email address.

Fanning graduated from North Hollywood private school Campbell Hall in June with the class of 2011. "I think it was really important to have the high school experience," she said on the Today show last fall. "I just think everyone always looks back on that time in their life. Who was homecoming princess and [did] the cheerleading ... and all the things that go along with high school? And I wanted to have that. I'm really lucky that I found a school that allows me to do both."

Fanning won't be the first famous student to attend NYU. Currently The Sixth Sense star Haley Joel Osment is enrolled, as are former Disney stars Dylan and Cole Sprouse. Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen famously attended -- but didn't graduate -- in the fall of 2004.

In May 2011, James Franco received his MFA in Filmmaking from NYU. Other famous alums include Aziz Ansari, Donald Glover and Alec Baldwin.

Is that tote Marc by Marc? I like the neon accents - cute update to a classic summer bag.
