Daniel Lee - Designer, Creative Director of Burberry

Looking at this work both at Bottega and at Burberry (so sad how they erased his vision) I am convinced more and more he would have been the perfect choice for Loewe. The only logical one too. Isn’t Bottega Kering’s Loewe after all? Just looking at the slides above, his artsy direction is so on point with Loewe imho.

So basically they hired Lee to do weird clothes, because the classic image wasn´t working. But now that Lee´s collections aren´t working, they want to go back to the classic image again...

GENIOUS!!

^ they brought the aesthetic all the way back to the pre-Bailey struggling dark ages…it is beyond dull and will struggle even more..

this self-glorifying ceo needs to be fired asap, but the board doesn’t know any better.

NO RESPECT for those people!
Your pricing strategy did hurt the brand, not the work of the creative director!
It’s really annoying! They raised the prices because the first collection from Lee was well received…
To put it all on the talent when his track record proves that he is willing to adapt his fashion proposition is disgusting.

If that’s how people do business in the UK, no wonder they don’t seat at the table with LVMH, KERING, RICHEMONT or ZEGNA.

bottega is not kerings loewe... it was supposed to be their hermes.

Burberry is just a mess overall. And maybe it is also not the time for lee's aesthetic anymore. No one is not buying these "humourous" luxury anymore. Everyone want either quiet stuff or super luxurious schiaperelli style clothes.

I actually took a good look at the `before` and `after` and realising I love everything `before` and NOTHING `after`.

and I actually also owned the bag in slide 6, Price Elevation - Not always aligned with Product Category`. It is actually a lovely bag, very well made in general, lovely hardware and fresh design overall, only complaint is the price but yes, who decided on the insane pricing? Blame the people, not the designer!

Shame shame shame on Burberry`s Management. I used to think they are one of the few major houses that is not Kering/ LVMH (because I sometimes get sick of all the inbreeding of the LV brands like Rimowa x Fendi x Dior etc) and wished them success, but now I only wish they fail hard and be banished to the darkest hell, or they will never learn.

That report is hilarious! Nothing about what they are doing now with this new CEO is "balancing heritage and innovation" (as they keep highlighting in the report). What they are doing is basically Michael-Kors-izing the brand to be very commercial and lack any authority whatsoever in the fashion landscape, erasing years of Lee's hard work and brand repositioning efforts.

So let me get this straight: Burberry now wants to push the outerwear AKA. the trench coat, and the check scarf every single season and move away from Daniel's vision. How exactly is that going to work? If anything it's just going to corner the brand and force them to rely too heavily on basically two categories.

It makes no sense.

Their strength is in Daniel Lee and that is the only reason why they are even relevant at this point. Take away a respected Artistic Director and Burberry is not any better than a Kate Spade or Tory Burch or Calvin Klein.

And for goodness sake, the pricing strategy is still a problem. They are selling jackets at the same price point of Gucci and Prada! Have these people completely lost their minds?
