NEW RECRUIT: Paris-based designer Bouchra Jarrar has been invited to join the official couture calendar. Jarrar, who founded her signature couture label in January and showed structured, two-toned pieces, said she would “continue with the same concept for the next collection.” Jarrar has also been nominated for the ANDAM award, to be presented June 28. Prior to launching her brand, Jarrar worked at Balenciaga for almost a decade and was the former couture director at Christian Lacroix.

Now this is news. Does anyone know anything about her? Where she's from?

Bouchra Jarrar is one to watch. This 39 year old Moroccan, who worked at Balenciaga for 10 years before moving on to Christian Lacroix, presented her first ever collection with a fabulous front row- all the great fashion editors were present.

ACKERMANN’S MAN: Haider Ackermann, the Paris-based designer known for his evocative draping and somber aesthetic, is venturing into new territory: men’s wear. Ackermann, who was tapped to headline the Pitti W trade show in Florence in June, will also unveil his first men’s looks during the show. “We’re searching for the man behind the Ackermann woman. It’s just a start,” said Ackermann, who attended a lunch at the Hôtel de Crillon in Paris on Tuesday organized by Raffaello Napoleone, chief executive officer of Pitti Immagine. Ackermann said elements of men’s wear would be commercialized next season, but declined to provide further details. “I find it harder to design men’s wear. Women’s wear is something I fantasize, but with men’s wear, you are comparing it to yourself. I am the consumer,” he mused. Ackermann will unveil his lineup on June 16 at the Palazzo Corsini in Florence.

I just searched up Bouchra Jarrar. Many of her designs are very nice. Some Old Valentino/Balenciaga/Chanel influence, I think.
