Demna Gvasalia - Designer, Creative Director of Balenciaga

Comments on Demnas "apology" post are disabled. Are they really that clueless?
When you fly that close to the sun, yes I wanna see you burn to the ground.
there are comments under Diet Prada’s repost and for me all of this is now going to far. It has been hijacked by the alt-right / Q Anon and it’s become downright scary

Please
That sounds like a statement from Kering.
What is qanon? Seriously I want to know

Demna is so lucky that the whole Alessandro x Gucci debacle happened just prior to this, otherwise he'd probably be gone. Kering is going to do everything it can to keep him since their other biggest star has departed. Without Alessandro and Demna, they would be in trouble...

So it's about those "wacko" conservatives and not about Balenciaga. Such an easy way out.
If you're willing to call the criticizers Qanon; then you sure can call Demna a part of an elitist cabal of pedophiles.

I don't think anyone is dismissing Demna's criticizers as wacky q-anon people. It's just that this scandal has now crossed over into their world and they have now joined in. And if January 6th 2021 is any indication, that could be potentially physically dangerous.

At this point, Balenciaga has detractors from multiple angles and have yet offer anything substantial to help themselves.

So 10 Avenue Georges V is the next capitol. That's so up Demna's alley. Maybe that was the "artistic choice of concept" they were going for.

I commend his apology. Judging by the grammar you can tell he wrote it himself and not some PR response

No way.

Despite what people may think no brand ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever deliberately asks for this kind of controversy.

He might like making a statement but he doesn't want to lose his job and the company certainly doesn't want to lose business.

this might be true for people who actually read reviews, but I doubt the general public will care one way or another. The name Balenciaga is tainted and will be for a while , regardless of what the collection will be like next season. It’s sad because I really did like a lot of what Demna did , bar those trashbags and mud shows
Of course it has nothing to do with the general public or at least social media. But great reviews on the next show (even more if it has a change of direction) might send a signal to the industry and it players. Demna needs to prove that his relevant doesn’t depend on stunts. The American press will be very crucial in a way…

Yes the name Balenciaga will always have that unfortunately attached but we saw how despite the « Blackface » controversy, Gucci managed to not be hurt so much.

All true. The only difference being that the Gucci Blackface only touched a part of the population, and there are a lot of even casually racist people who didn’t care either way, but the subject of this particular scandal literally touched everybody, regardless of race, political inclination etc

I have just watched this...and I found it really funny.
