Demna Gvasalia - Designer, Creative Director of Gucci

I know the fashion industry turned into the entertainment industry but now they're literally just using the same rage bait tactics as the news... And it doesn't matter what the product is in the end, it's just collecting data and creating speculative value

yes! him. and michelle are rage bait appointments. suits trying to use their sullied and polarizing reputations respectively to rile up sales and interest in a brands. it's so transparently disgusting, disrespectful, and offensive to both the consumer and audience's intelligence.

i don't know what they are snorting at kering, but whatever it is, it's making them look nuttier than squirrel crap and completely out of touch, nonsensical. these people clearly do not know what they are doing and once again prizing profit over design and substance. it's shameful. it feels like gucci could be sold for pennies at this point and if this could crash kering, i welcome it because they deserve a devastating humbling.

I wonder what, if anything, Hedi's camp had to do with the rumors. That's two or three major jobs now that he supposedly was seriously considered for and rejected or backed out. Is this some sort of scarcity strategy, demanding absurd amounts of money and control and waiting to see which brand eventually gives in? Or is he off happily photographing twinks and just letting the peanut gallery fabricate a new rumor about him every month?
Probably practically nothing. Hedi stans and Galliano stans DESPERATELY want to see them anywhere, so of course when there's an opening they start fantasizing about them ending up with whatever vacant position is open and making up fantasy scenarios. Now you're implying he REJECTED or BACKD OUT and was "seriously considered" for Gucci? Really?

I'm still puzzled... why would people think Hedi would return to Kering? Sure, in people's minds maybe they offered him tons of money (LOL) for Gucci... but people aren't willing to return to previous companies for smaller and more petty reasons. Like I said, anyone with common sense knew his appointment wasn't gonna happen. I haven't heard a good, fact-based, logical explanation why people sincerely thought Hedi would end up at Gucci. And now people are disappointed by their gassed up fantasies letting them down. They're GUTTED at something that was never gonna happen in the first place.

The Hedi "rumors" are like frenzied fanfiction dreams. Now cue the same rumours from the same stans about f*cking Balenciaga. Lather, rinse, repeat.

I actually think it is good move for Demna to do the street stuff at Gucci to emulate Vuitton, but thank god the prestigious name of Balenciaga is freed from hijacking.

from lauren sherman:
Demna seems to have really coveted the job, and wanted to prove that he is capable. (Look no further than 2021’s Gucci-Balenciaga collaboration for a preview of what it could be—I’m told that his proposal for the new Gucci blew Cantino and Bellettini away.)

for all the insiders on here, please forward this to Demna. I went ahead mocked-up some potential items that I think he'll like (pls hire me).

Literally SCREAMING at the sight of your post!
We already know the first release under Demna is going to be distressed Gucci horsebit loafer with scratched aged leather and tarnished horsebit detail to, according to the press release, "represent the Gucci heritage standing the test of time in this time of political and economical uncertainty"

Good luck to him. He will definitely need it. From what I have seen, it's not like people are lining up to buy Balenciaga these days. And Gucci, well, it's worse.

It's so just weird that Gucci and Balenciaga put a lot of money renovating stores (like in Bangkok, they just open and renovated most stores.) Then new CDs come in and there will be another redo. No wonder why the stuff cost more yet subpar craftsmanship. It's all going down the drain with the suits decision making.

You would think that Kering would learn from LVMH, Hermes, Chanel by now! Get you your own architect to design the stores for your brand. In less than a decade, Gucci stores have been through 4 redesigns: Frida, Alessandro, Ancora and now Demna!

^^^ Meanwhile they are listening to Francesca Belletini and the other guy like those two have been touched by divine intervention or something.

Francesca made ONE good decision by hiring Anthony and suddenly she has all the answers including how to bring Gucci back from the brink? LMAO.

Delusional these people are indeed.

In investors logic, shifting CD talent within the group is mostly a sign of weakness if your luxury group is already in trouble so not surprised by the stocks dropping.

Also, this Cantino's first CEO role, correct? It doesn't make sense to start your CEO career at such a huge brand as Gucci. I know he's coming from Prada and Vuitton but he mostly did communications and marketing there.

Good luck to all three of them (including Demna) for sure! It's going to be a bumpy ride

Market analysts are reading the forum ;)

"Kering's decision to name Demna Gvasalia as the new artistic director of Gucci raises doubts, Bernstein analysts say in a note. The designer will join Gucci from Balenciaga--which is also owned by Kering--in early July. The strategy he implemented at Balenciaga might not work as well for a bigger brand, the analysts say. Kering has been trying to turn Gucci around in an effort to reinvigorate demand for its core brand. "We are not sure that Demna measures up to the task, nor that he is the right fit for Gucci at the moment," Bernstein says. Shares in the French luxury-goods group have fallen nearly 41% in the past 12 months. ([email protected])"
