I just think that it’s such a shortsighted decision from Kering. They’re counting on him to turn on profits and sales quickly, but is Demna really the one who can do that? Isn’t Balenciaga sales slowing down a lot recently? It seems like everyone is tired of his aesthetic. And even if he does manage to bring that quick uptick in revenue, what about long term? Do they really expect him to do it constantly for the next few years? To create a new language, a new era at Gucci? It’s just such a big gamble that I’m still shocked they’re choosing to make.
