I have dimples, and I don't mind them... But it always seems weird to me that people regard them as a GOOD thing. I mean, they could have been looked at as facial imperfections, because I think essentially that is what they are.

What causes dimples :

Each physical trait you possess is represented by a pair of genes -- one each from mom and pop. This pair can either be a combination of two dominant genes, one dominant and one recessive gene, or two recessive genes.

All you need is one dominant gene to inherit a particular trait. Dimples, along with other traits such as freckles, a widow's peak, a cleft chin, and yes, even bushy eyebrows, are passed along by a single dominant gene. If you have dimples, you have the dominant trait (D-). If you don't, you have the recessive (dd). It's that simple.

When i was young,everytime i smiled people would pinch my cheek so hard i think my dimples grew bigger because of the pinching! But the thing that frustrates me is that as i grew older...i would still get comments oh u got dimples thats sooo cute "in a baby type of cute way"...you dont get the whole sexy comment or attractive comment...u get the cutie cutie comment

I am a big dimple fan so I think you are lucky. The only person who has an annoying dimple is Jessica off Laguna Beach. It looks weird.

I only found out I have a dimple about two months ago ....It's not a deep one...it only pops out on the right when I purse my lips to the left....kinda like Elvis Most people in my family have them...

Dimples are cute...use them to your advantage!...My sister became a close-up toothpaste spokesperson because of her prominent dimples and beautiful teeth that made it look so nice when she smiled...Even I felt like I should use close-up when I saw the commericals

How dimples are formed

hey guys this is my first post,
I have 2 huge dimples, but for ppl wondering what causes dimples,
my mums a doctor and she says it is a mis-overlap of the muscles
in that area, or loose muscle walls. so if thats supposed to be a deformation on the face
i guess it's a pretty nice one!
