Dior Homme by Hedi Slimane (2000-2007)

Those Kilts were not bad, I might wear one once or twice- but I wouldn't pay that price for it. It takes a very particuilar type of person to pull that look off.
Basilmus, you can trust that Softgrey has excellent taste.

thank you for the very kind compliment sir... :flower:

i think it is so cool that you would wear a kilt...if i were a guy...i'd wear this... B) (JPG)

maybe even better than hedi...imo... :innocent:

It may be actually.. I didn't really like the colors hedi's kilt was manufactured in.

:woot:  herr Karl in a dior kilt

i would possibly kill someone for a dior trenchcoat...

you can buy the stuff from charity shops, yes, but the cut is quite unique compared to 99% of stuff out there. I'm too thin for today's 'fat' cuts!

since when was a medium for someone with a beer belly?

You must be almost anorexic then haha, Hedi's mediums are considered small by most. I think most mediums are fair, unless you shop on the highstreet, Ralph Lauren tends to be quite big though.

I don't know about DH mediums, but every medium I've ever tried on is huge on me. Hell, a lot of smalls fit bigger than I'd like. I ordered a DH shirt in XS recently (which is usually the size I wear), but haven't yet received it. We'll see how it fits...

All the talk of TFS lately about quality, actual cost, manufacturing techniques, etc. has got me wondering about DH. Isn't most of it just mass-produced? Is the quality really even that good? Do any of the pieces take hours to make, or anything like that?

The eye t-shirt is in Browns web-sale BTW.

Acid what size chest and shoulders do you take because I'm about the same height as you?

Great picture Acid!

I take the smallest sizes in Dior, but thats just the way im built.
It is true they are starting to cut larger and larger!

The quality of dior is not very good. And to be honest, the only thing unique about those coats is the cut.. that style has been donea million times.

For a thin-cut trenchcoat thats even nicer try Haute,Rick Owens, etc.
Some Linea pieces are in fact cut much slimmer than DH.

I believe that we still ought to remember that even though the quality at DH isn't the highest and the trenches has been seen way before, Hedi's interpretation of the things are in my opinion very unique. Ppl say that Ann D. has done these things way before. Yes and no. Take an example of styling. Ppl can style using DH, Ann D., raf and other stuff like that. But if they don't interpretate things in a chic way this styling wouldn't necessarily have to kick butt.
I think DH is the first real label that puts out something that is slim cut, unique materials and still masculine (which is probably the most important thing). And BTW there's a reason why everybody talks about Hedi and not Ann D. for example.

the reason is.....the suits....

as i mentioned before...

it's all about the cut of the suit...everything else is just stuff to sell...but the suits are what is special about christian dior homme...

The suits are nice but jackets and jeans...i love them.. Looking forward to see how the short S/S 2005 leather jackets are.

karl lagerfeld also helped a lot...by going on and on about the fact tht he lost all that weight and went on that severe diet simply in order to wear one of those suits...

when bryan ferry got back together and went on tour for the first time in more than 10 yrs...he wore hedi slimane for christian dior suits...

david bowie wears it...

franz ferdinand wear the suits... nicole kidman was photographed for vogue in a hedi slimane for chritian dior suit...

it's all about the suit....

i don't see how the jeans are any different than helmut lang's...
and now karl lagerfeld for h&m...

Remember Franz Ferdinand is sponsored by DH so there's a reason why they wear them. Agree the DH suits are what celebs wear...could you imagine them in a sweater and a pair of dyed jeans at a concert?

There's a big difference but you can only feel it when you try them on. Lagerfelds for H&M are to grotesque nasty. Saw a pair and it's DH over again. But still interpretated in KL's manner. Not very nice button etc. KL has not got great taste, only at Chanel.

sponsored just means they borrow the clothes...they could have asked to borrow clothes from someone else...or they could wear vintage...whatever..

it's what they want their image to be...

and actually...how many bands do you know that wear suits onstage...
not many actually...the strokes..no...maroon 5...no...

it's an extreme fashion elite...personally...i find the severe cut and the sharp tailoring of the narrow suits to be extremely HOT!!!
this level of tailoring is just magnificent...impeccable... B)

just beyond cool...

i saw a picture of adam brody wearing a dior homme suit in GQ. it is actually very sleek and cool and not so tight when normal people wear it. but when the models on the runway wear it, it looks extremely tight and grunge.

Ok. But let's just agree on that it's not a coincidence that Franz Ferdinand chose DH. And why wear anything else when DH is the hottest out there.

About the suit wearing on stage. It depends of course to which occasion it is but I saw a few to the Europe Music Awards. The band who wore white suits (can't remember who they are). Also Green day wears shirts, ties and suits.

People know DH is image image image. That's why the celebs wear it.

He was on a budget of course, he couldn't do anything he wanted like he does at Chanel, I think you should take that into account.
