Dior Homme by Hedi Slimane (2000-2007)

He was on a budget of course, he couldn't do anything he wanted like he does at Chanel, I think you should take that into account.
Agree but still. It's so obvious the cut is DH. But shame the little details as buttons etc has so much to say on clothing.

But I still believe Karl has such bad taste.

Ok. But let's just agree on that it's not a coincidence that Franz Ferdinand chose DH. And why wear anything else when DH is the hottest out there.

People know DH is image image image. That's why the celebs wear it.

i don't think it's a coincidence...but i think it's because they have good taste...because they know what's cool...
and bands really choose a lot of their own clothes...especially the men...

but i know most celebs just wear what their stylist gets for them...i don't think they know about dior homme or hedi slimane...in face...i think most of them would choose prada or armani before dior if they didn't have someone to pick stuff out for them...
maybe european celebs are different...but the hollywood bunch are pretty mainstream...

i think 'hipsters' wear dior homme collection...aside from the suits...
but i still like the look...it' sexy, rock n roll..."i'm in a band" look B)

Yeah, I really love DH as well, just besides the prices - and the fact that they don't distribute to Denmark :(

Btw, check your inbox. ^^

If you like Slimane's overall look then I suggest going back to YSL Rive Gauche circa 2000-2001.

That eye tee-shirt is nothing compared to the blood wound shirt.

The cuts been around for a long time, even before hedi.
I like the cut of his suits a lot, the problem is that the quality of the garment itself is not so good.

I think that ann D. and others are just not well represented.
I only used her as an example because she was the first that came to mind.
I will say that Hedi popularized the look.
I just think that overall in the the category of being unique and inventive, he falls short.

And to directly reply to AlexN,
Many pieces are mass produced.
Most of the garments really don't take any work at all except for one or 2 pieces per season.

The look is great for everyone that likes it!
There have been some pretty nice pieces in the past.
I just want to look for something more innovative

i don't see how the jeans are any different than helmut lang's...
and now karl lagerfeld for h&m...

There isn't a huge difference but they are different enough for me to choose one over the other. HL jeans have a looser fit and are like Levi 501 jeans, very classic. Dior homme depending the style have a tighter fit and are more flattering if you are slim. There really is not a huge difference except in price (DH is priced much higher) It just varies I suppose from season season. DH will have jeans with crazy treatments and such (rips, waxlike finishe) Dh S/S 05 seemed to cut down on that and the jeans are as basic as ever.

I think many bands and u.s. celebs have bad taste when it comes to clothing. This simply shows that money can't buy good taste. Have seen many documentaries on u.s. celebs. I would much rather prefer to choose my own wardrobe instead of letting one "famous u.s. stylist" pick it.

This is not meant offending in any way, softgrey.

i think i still like a narrow dark wash helmut lang or a levi better... B)

Softgrey,
The Christina Aguilera-question was supposed to be ironic, but I guess most fashion wannabees take everything so seriously...

of course some of them have bad taste...people all over the world have bad taste...

THAT is why they hire a stylist...to make them look better, because otherwise they would look even worse...but if someone has REALLY bad taste...then you really can't do much...it's still their final decision to wear something or not...most actors don't have any real interest in fashion...it's not their thing...and they would prefer to have someone tell them what to do ...
i think musicians are more into clothes...and style in general...because they are being themselves...

but actors are usually pretending to be someone else...so they don't have a strong personal identity...which seems appropriate to me...

anyway...i just prefer a franz ferinand look to a strokes look...
i think they're both ok...but i like the sharpness of the suit better...
i would definitely wear one of those suits myself...i was given a beautiful 1960's men's silk suit that was handmade in hongkong that i wore with a skinny tie when i was in college...but i lent it to my 20 yr old cousin recently ...and, of course, he wrecked it...

so i guess there's some sentimental value there for me as well...i miss that suit...

The eye t-shirt is in Browns web-sale BTW.

Acid what size chest and shoulders do you take because I'm about the same height as you?
i think my chest is about 36 or 37. i thought that was pretty small until i realised travis fimmel is only a 40 and he has enormous pecs and back.

shoulders......no idea.....i take a 50 jacket. i thought i was a pretty normal size until i saw my reflection in a mirror with other people walking in front and behind me when i was on the tube and i realised i was way thinner and taller than everyone else, and my face was a lot thinner too.

Although none of the hipsters I know can afford it, they would pick Dior Homme as their label of choice of they had to. Especially after DH S/S 05.

Yeah, about the same, 36" chest but take a 50 suit for shoulders. So I'd be a Dior medium then?

28" waist 32" inseam...is that a European 34/46?
