Dior Homme by Hedi Slimane (2000-2007)

oh! are they like diagonal darts from armpit to neck? i thought you guys were saying the t shirts were darted like dress shirts are on the back side.

Hmm, I hope they make the blue lurex in 21 cm openings. I've tried the 19 cms, and it's just too small for me hehe.

Hmm, maybe I'll consider the white tee with black stripes, it crosses more of the chest than I first thought.. it's enough to cover the nipples!

I am definitely loving the darts, kick ***.

What size in 21 cm dior jeans do you normally take, and what size in the 19cm jeans did you try on? Reason I ask is I want to pick up a pair of the grey lurex myself but I'm going to have to mail order them from somewhere. I had heard that the rule is you fit a size up in 19cm from what you would wear in 21cm. Did you try a size up and they were still too small?

Edit: Directed to Albert...Haha, then you should try on my 18s! I wanted the black w/ white stripe shirt at first, but the more I looked at the white w/ black, the cooler I thought it was. And I think it'll look cooler underneath a jacket. There's just something about it...

I don't know about all this leg opening option stuff. When I see measurements for each size, they just gradually go up. Size 28 is 18cm leg opening, 29 is 18.5, 30 is 19, etc.

Dior jeans sizing is confusing. (Usually) they come in two cuts, designated 19cm hem and 21cm hem. The actual leg opening varies between sizes and styles, but generally the 19cm is narrower through the hip and leg than the 21 cm hem, and slightly lower waisted. Apparently the serial# on the tag will tell you what you've got. I know some models come in only 19cm hem, the ripped up black painted jeans from luster and strip for example, the black silicon coated ones, and, apparently, the lurex from the current spring season. I tried on a pair of fall orange overdyed size 32, 19cm and they were actually a bit narrower (and lower in the waist) than the size 31 21 cm same style, same season.

Hmm, I never thought of it that way! I'm a Dior 32 (current season 32, in the past seasons I've been a 46/48 in Follow Me and 31 after that). I've always bought the 21 cm hems. I had purchased the silicone coated ripped jeans from Strip and they fit, just a little too rockstar-tight that's all. That's been my experience with the 19cm. Even my roommate who wears a 30 says 19cm is too slim for him.

Who knows, I'll give them the ol college try when i'm in the city weekend after this one... depending on what will and won't be on sale come sales time, maybe I''ll even pick up a pair or two of the jeans!

Alex- I'll have to check out the white tee then hehe. Not sure if Dior NYC carried it or not... I do remember the chalk striped ones there though!

Woops, that quote supposed to be copied with and Echo Princeofcats most recent.

Sorry for strung out message, but quotation a segue to an observation about a literary influence in Hedi Slimane's outlook. He's an admirer of Samuel Beckett's sartorial style. Solitaire and Follow could be outfits to fill Beckett's wardrobe as much as this coming year's offerings might work in Pete Doherty's.

I'm talking about the chalk-stripe tees. I was saying I found the white cotton w/ black paint (that I ended up buying) more appealing than the black cotton w/ white paint.

^Speaking of DH tees...and jeans and pants and collared shirts...I'm not the most perfectly slim person ever. I'm not fat, I'm just not slim like the perfect Dior Homme man. Can I pull off DH at all with my body type?

I would think so. As long as you're not buff. I think it looks ridiculous on big, built guys, the jeans/pants in particular. In my opinion, skinny jeans and pants usually look rather horrendous on guys with huge muscular legs.

^yup when the big buff guys wear skinny *** jeans, they are usually those club heads that try too hard to look metro. it just doesnt look right.

What's your height and weight? You might have to pull a Karl. Although we won't hold you to Karl's extreme claim that dior is only worthwhile on people at least 5'10 and who can wear size 46.

No way :yuk: I'm not buff, I'm just not perfectly slim.

But thankyou, now I can rest assured that I can own some Dior Homme :flower:

I can just imagine the dragon-obsessed man from Starsky and Hutch prancing around in tight Dior Homme sparkly jeans and a tight, tight, tight Dior Homme print tee. Schmexy :brows:

I think a rather funny thing about Dior Homme is that in the recent collections it's gone extremely preppy almost and I could really see people with a more than slim body type really wearing the clothes.

I find the stuff to not really be too slim cut either comparitive to some other brands.
It seems the sizing has been made larger over time.
The blazers and what-not have been made so much larger.

Depends on the market I think. The short blazers for this spring's runway are tiny throught the shoulder arms and torso. For N.A. they were a special order only.
