Dior Homme

I have read many interviews with hedi and everyone is always talking with him about how it is so great they he has really made a name for himself in the menswear business alone. I don't think he would ever branch off into womenswear, and if he did, I think it would take away from his appeal to the dior homme customer.

Also, I was wondering if anyone here owns one of the thin silk scarves/ties from the fall/winter collection. They have fringe on the bottom, and come in many different colors. I am thinking about ordering one from jeffrey, but I wanted some more opinions before I did.

Here are some pictures of the scarves/ties on the runway

those silk scarves when worn on the waist remind me of how Orthodox Jews wear the strings on their waist.... just my first impression. It can be a pretty cool look if worn as a belt.

It is reminiscent of the Luster wool tasseled belt that was tied in a knot on the waist, just a more... colorful version. They had some at Barney's at the beginning of the season. I don't know what the stock is like now.

For everyone on here, I've got the Strip arm pouch for sale if anyone is interested. Brand new, in the gray dustbag with authenticity card.

Check ebay or pm me for photos and such!

Cheers,
Albert

i dont think it would matter much if you got the knitted one, but if youre speaking of the suit like cape, it will matter. ive seen it in person, and its just lik a suit jacket but longer and no sleeves.

Yeah I meant that knitted one... I just want it so bad but 606 euros. I have to wait for sales...

That's actually much cheaper than I thought it would be. For a signature item that has to be mostly done by hand, it's not so expensive at all!

I was thinking about Albert's earlier comments and I have this question, do people really buy size 54 Dior suits? Do they even exist?

I wear about a size 50 suit - sometimes 52.. well, I've never owned a dior suit.. so I'm not sure

i'm 6'0 and 170

I don't think a 54 would look right in Dior Homme

also.. I have a good body (I don't mean that in a cocky way!) but I feel so fat when I see the main sizes set out at boutiques like Dior Homme, even though I'm not at all! :p

Faust, I do know that at least size 54 blazers and size 36(!) jeans exist as Barney's picks them up. The jeans for sure look absolutely heinous. The blazers... yeah weird because of the skinny arms and lapels.

Saks I think had 54 suits. The same one a pot bellied Indian businessman was trying on. It looked hilarious. Like a potato with toothpicks for arms and legs.

I've got the same "dimensions" as Chris_Daka and my black Dior suit is a 50. I have a Solitaire suit which is a 52, but I swear it fits just like my 50 from Strip. I'm not a fattie! I promise!

Like mentioned in the cloak/uncloaked thread, these large sizes are made for probably the same reason as the ugly D shirts and other dior crap is made: To fund the brand and bring in the money. It's that balance of creativity and marketing to your target body size/shape with the cost of everything and selling to those that have the money.

This becomes even more imperative for such a brand as DH where the "look" is clearly designed for the younger set. Younger usually equals less income/less spending money so they're forced to balance it all out.

It's all speculation of course, but logically/financially it makes sense to me.

whats the smallest size dior does? in jackets and suits i mean, a wear a 44 which feels kinda big but i havnt seen anything smaller than that

In Paris and limited distribution elsewhere I believe you can get stuff in 42 petite.

A person i was talking to online said they had a blazer labeled as such (black Dior tag instead of the classic silver). These items are made in super limited amounts though so I think Paris may be one of the few locations to pick it up.

man... I really gotta hit Paris up and check out the store there!

yeah i heard 10% of the collection was made in small sizes - i didnt think i was that small so i need to go to paris and try and get the sizes there

You really don't need to: a female friend of mine owns a beatiful ROBMANTEAU which is a 38P, yet you can find the new capes in 42P and 44P in the MILAN store, and if you are interested check out CHRISTIAN Boutique in
Reggio Emilia, Italy. This winter is going to have MANY pieces in 38P and 42P including manteau, vest. I forgot that it's only the tag with the size that is BLACK for PETIT and not the larger one with care instructions which is attached. ;)

DIor in NYC has a petite size 40 jacket, its like a pinstripe, when i was there some girl rushed in and was like "do you have any womens stuff!"

Say...is the petit size and 44P suit size available only in Europe?!

about the trench coats from this season - does anyone know if they look like the one I have attached? (from a previous season) although it's a basic trench coat, the cut is amazing, and it just has such a different look from other trench coats in my opinion..

Regarding the extreme ends of sizing..

Anything down to a T.38P/XXXS (28" chest!) to a T.58 (48" chest!) it seems. I've seen jeans go up to a 38" waist!

It's true that the petite tailles only make up 10% of production and are denoted by the little black size tag on the garment, but i wouldn't say it's only available in Paris, more sizes for sure (Av. Montaigne has literally anything in any size in my experience) but i'm sure all stores will carry a few petite sizes at the very least.

It seems trench coats are reissued every season (like military jkts etc), they're all pretty much the same with minor cosmetic changes. Though the best ones imo were the ones from SS'03/F.Me. The leather trench's that Hedi does are even more stunning; definitely something to save up for.

The trench at H&M is copy of the SS03 trench. I think, at least, although I could be wrong since it's not so easy to tell them apart (It could also be FW03 or whatever). My favorite is the FW04, that one will never be bettered :)
