I am very much used to wear blazers and love the way something very much associated with "evening" can look effortlessly casual with Hedi Slimane, it´s not that I would see those clothes as designed solely for occassions, I´d totally wear his tux jackets for the daytime... In the end, I actually happen to pick out the very same favourites as Karl Lagerfeld, the smoking jackets, the tailcoats, the inventive takes on the blazer. These pieces are - and will - always be there in the collection, so I pretty much oversee the whole merchandise that is also thrown into the collection, such as the knitted track jacket/top or several awful polos and such.

Let´s not forget that all the AD-campaigns and producing catwalks as Hedi´s every season costs a damn lot of money every season... I mean, just have a look on the impeccable installations and settings every season, everything is especially designed and made for the show only, with all the awful merchandise it´s finally what we have to pay for the cutting edge that we are seeing (probably more and more hidden) every season. It´s not much different from Galliano.

I didn't even think of it this way.

If that is the case, then it definitely isn't that bad... compared to how Galliano has been just wh*ring out the monogram for his lower end stuff. At least Hedi still does interesting tees eh?

You get karma!

5HH1015420 is the 21cm cut and 5HH1011220 is the 19cm cut. if the number after the 101 is a 1 that means its the slimmer cut. I say slimmer because some jeans come in 21 and 19cm and some come in 19 and 17cm.

i was browsing through yahoo japan auction and noticed the following 2 postings.

in one the jean's style number is 5HH 1015420 475 B604
the other is 5HH 1011220 475 B604.

what's the difference?

i took another look at the measurements...
5HH1015420 it seems is 20cm
5HH1011220 it seems is 21cm

that's contrary to what you mentioned...unless i'm reading the measurements wrongly...

well youre either reading it wrong or the seller put the wrong measurements. theres no way the 1220 should have a bigger hemm then the 5420. and also just because its a 21 or 19cm cut doesnt mean the hemm is going to have that exact measurement. a 21cm cut in size 29 is going to have a smaller hemm then a size 32 in 21cm cut. I think youre stressing too much about this stuff man, just go to the store and try them on and buy the one you like.

problem is that there are very limited styles here in nyc to try...and i don't find the staff at the DH store here very helpful.

btw, i am aware that a 21cm version doesn't necessarily mean it'll measure exactly 21cm.

You live in NYC probably the only place in the USA to find good amounts of Dior Homme. All you have to do is take one trip to the boutique and all your 100 questions will be answered. And the sales associates at Dior very very helpful and kind, you just probably annoyed the heck out of them.

You guys are killing me!

Arthur, it's true, you are very lucky to have any DH store to go to at all. I think the nearest one for me is... yes... NYC.

And EdK, you are not taking the proper otaku attitude for this thread! ;)

Thank you both for your information, though...

I suppose so, but to be honest, i'd much rather be in London or Tokyo, especially the latter...more stuff with sizes that suit me, and i'm certain better customer service as well.

Thanks faust!

mouko, is this what you are talking about, or is the libertines shirt something different?

(image from eluxury.com)

That's the end t-shirt. I saw it in army green as well.

The libertines t-shirt is different. It has a partial line drawing of Peter Doherty's face with some text.

Chinzor - I saw that red zip up at the Dior store and I literally though "Did they get a shipment from FCUK?"

Bad news for dudes in Sydney, I just visited Fusion today and they said they're going discontinue Dior Homme coz it's too expensive for the Australian market 0_0
All I saw there were some horrible Dolce & Gabbana crap. On the plus side, there were some really nice Lanvin jeans and such at 50% off.

Thanks, Albert...

It´s always the same for the Dior Homme runways, the setting is very, very designed, it´s never just a catwalk and seats (as compared to... say Helmut Lang), you might have seen those mirrors on the S/S 2006 video which they were pulling up when the show started... you know, with the first guy standing right after the last one. They also had some amazing clublights they were pulling down just for the finale, with the boys wearing the loose tops and suspenders.

I guess this was already one of the cheaper installations, The drumkit-towers from last season, the enormous installations from S/S 2005 and especially the lighting (just have a look on the fashion week attendees topic where i posted some pics from S/S 2006, the lighting was just brilliant) must have been extraordinary expensive. I don´t know, but I feel that if somebody else would have been the designer at Dior Homme, it might have been worse than with Hedi - I mean with all the merchandise and such. The tees for next season are very nice and graphic, unlike the "D". :innocent:

Tricotineacetat (It just popped into my head the other day how I'm supposed to pronounce that!)

I'm interested in how those classic things look. Have you got any pics of them jackets, and also when Käiser Karl wear them?

Just have a look on gettyimages.com and type in "Karl Lagerfeld" you´ll see him wearing Dior Homme most of the time and he´s mostly sticking to the Smoking part of the collection... Just take away the high collar, the shades and heavy jewelry and you´ll have the essence of Dior ;)

Yeah I know, but those pics are mostly really bad, espescially since he likes to use black suits.

Have you seen him use the smokingjacket that has cutaways on the sides and ends up in a little tail? (Kinda like Tailcoat without the tail?, is there a special word for those jackets?) I'd still be nice if you had some pics of your own , espescially that tailcoat :)

And last,
I saw the tux blazer on Luisaviaroma and thought the lapels were just a little too wide compared to say the signature blazer from VotC. Are they all wide-lapeled this season?

And one more thing:
Anyone wondered why he still dresses mostly in Dior? I mean he has his own Lagerfeld Gallery, and since suits and blazers are the bread and butter of a label he should be wearing his own label instead, as opposed to Hedi wearing original chucks which ain't the same thing. I mean, if he used a little Dior, that would be cool and people would say that he ain't that egocentric after all etc etc, but all the time? When he even has his own label?

:)

Not at all, Magnum. I guess that´s what you might think from the picture taken but it´s actually pretty much the same jacket as in F/W 2004. It´s a carry over every season and it´s again in the new collection S/S 2006... Hedi wears it most of the time and it´s the one jacket that absolutely embodies the whole "thing" of Eau Noire.

I will be looking for a picture this evening, there was one on getty images showing LK on Rainier of Monaco´s funeral, he was wearing the tailcoat from S/S 2003. Ex Skunk Anansie singer Skin also wore this jacket on the cover of her first debut album and the videoclip for her first single, "Trashed". I hope Hedi´s gonna do a re-edition of this one in the future as it was probably one of the best jackets I ever saw in the collection... I´m so in luv!
