Hi Chinor, I understand that you might be a PERFECT fashion guru by picking on points or text, but mind you, this is just a forum for discussion. Diagreement is absolutely your birth right, but lets take life not that serious as you do. You do your THINGY and I do mine...right.
Oh by no means am I an expert, but you just came on the forum and made statements.
Anyways, it comes down to an age/image sort of thing.
Dior's aesthetic is young and so are most of the buyers. Zegna and from what it has been describe as, Lanvin are made for the older businessman.
There have been too many times where I was at Saks or Barneys, and some potbellied 45-50 year old man tries on a size 54 Dior suit, says it's too small and asks for a bigger size.
These other brands are all cut large (compared to Dior, i'd say mcqueen was as well) and thus accommodate the larger man. Although Dior has increased in the generosity of its cut (likely to to the increased commercialism and popularity of the brand), it is still not made/intended for people much larger than me( size 50 suit for Dior, 31-32 in the jeans/pants). The suits aren't made larger than 54, and although the jeans are as large as 36 in the waist, they sure don't look good!
So it all depends on what your body type is. Certain brands are absolutely "niche" brands that are made for specific body types (CDiem, Helmut Lang, Dior, etc.) while others are more flexible because they aren't as well known for their razor sharp, slim tailoring (armani, zegna, canali etc. etc.), but more for their name and the classic cut of their items.
But like you said, this is my interpretation of the brand and other brands. Open to other people's opinions.
