With Dior its all about individuals taste and how they feel in it. I tried a couple of them, but nothing matches McQueen, Lanvin, E.Zegna

wait... does lanvin even MAKE clothes for dudes?

And Zegna? I guess if you're a 50 year old banker then sure, buy something boring and traditional.

It's a totally different aesthetic for Dior Homme, McQueens "look" isn't that same rocker/punk look and he doesn't do much more than raw denim jeans anyways.

Basically I'm going to have to disagree with you on all points

Do your thingy and let others do theirs

Hi Chinor, I understand that you might be a PERFECT fashion guru by picking on points or text, but mind you, this is just a forum for discussion. Diagreement is absolutely your birth right, but lets take life not that serious as you do. You do your THINGY and I do mine...right.

ugh... that´s scary to hear the stores are starting the sales so early in the US... normally in Europe it would be around late December/January...

it's not scary, it's good :D

  :p
...right.

I used to think that levis makes the best jeans until ive tried ck jeans and now...nothing but dior jeans. I dint like it too initially due to the ultra slim cut, but bought it anyway due to the unique design. Now, im crazy about DH jeans and wish that i had started collecting earlier. DH jeans are meant for the trendy.
Zegna or lanvin make nice suits and cater more to the middle age. My dad has a lanvin cashmere blazer which he looks good in. But i can never imagine him in a pair of DH jeans. :ninja:

Thanks, I'll surely check it out.
Anyone read the feature in Anthem no. 17, interview with Hedi, pictures of Pete Doherty/Libertines and a quite nice 18 pages with pictures of FW2005... it really make the collection a bit more wearable.

Anyone had their hands on the satin t-shirts, how do they feel/look?

Oh by no means am I an expert, but you just came on the forum and made statements.

Anyways, it comes down to an age/image sort of thing.

Dior's aesthetic is young and so are most of the buyers. Zegna and from what it has been describe as, Lanvin are made for the older businessman.

There have been too many times where I was at Saks or Barneys, and some potbellied 45-50 year old man tries on a size 54 Dior suit, says it's too small and asks for a bigger size.:yuk:

These other brands are all cut large (compared to Dior, i'd say mcqueen was as well) and thus accommodate the larger man. Although Dior has increased in the generosity of its cut (likely to to the increased commercialism and popularity of the brand), it is still not made/intended for people much larger than me( size 50 suit for Dior, 31-32 in the jeans/pants). The suits aren't made larger than 54, and although the jeans are as large as 36 in the waist, they sure don't look good!

So it all depends on what your body type is. Certain brands are absolutely "niche" brands that are made for specific body types (CDiem, Helmut Lang, Dior, etc.) while others are more flexible because they aren't as well known for their razor sharp, slim tailoring (armani, zegna, canali etc. etc.), but more for their name and the classic cut of their items.

But like you said, this is my interpretation of the brand and other brands. Open to other people's opinions.

I saw some Lanvin jeans before in person. The fabric was really nice and silky but yay it's more for middle age people.

fashion shall not discriminate...but i wonder if hedi would cringe seeing a 'pot-belly' dior homme wearer.

Hi, I'm New.

I am going to be in NYC soon for a week and was wondering if dior homme ever ends up in any of the discount designer stores like century 21, etc. ??

I'd imagine if it ever did it would gone quick.

Thanks! :D

(luisaviaroma.com)

or just that pull and a necklage...

There are many ways to accesories (sorry I don't know is that even a word ) your clothing just by adding something interesting to them. You could also use a brooch on a pull (nothing womenly).

Thanks man! I didn't think of a tie, stupid me. A necklace would definetely pull it off, just need to find someone that aren't in Diors price range.

But i also discovered that it wasn't grey they were going to take it in, it was black. I don't know about that, I think I rather would have the grey one... but, the black is sure easier to wear.

Yeah, I also discovered that in AW 04 they weared it, and he used striped t-shirt under all of them. Jolly o fine!
