I don’t get what kind of client would make such a drastic change style-wise; I guess it’s one of those Eastern Europe/Russia “trophy wife” who loves to show cash…

And from a fashion perspective, I dress differently there. The last time, I wore a Mr Alaïa mongolian lamb coat that I would never wear in Paris weirdly.

That being said, as much as I enjoy Switzerland and would probably live there if I was a very famous designer, I’m not sure it’s the most stimulating area of the world.

The strength of Paris is that, it’s a cultural hub. Every arrondissement has it surprised (even if most designers rarely goes out of the usual ones once they hit a certain status), there’s always something to do, to see.

Paris and NYC and a bit London are that even though Paris is not the buzzing Paris it used to be.

It doesn't surprise me. I wanted to go there on a trip by myself and on one blog a woman who lives there wrote to dress averagely so as not to draw attention to herself as a single woman. A friend of mine once spent two weeks there with her aunt and in those tourist places strange men were constantly talking to her. In other parts of the city it was no problem. She liked the museums.

It will sounds dreadful but this SPJ is growing on me…they really need Chief Aesthetics Officer bc the company is mess currently. Clothing wise atelier would have to appoint new people to get the actual sh*t done. Chanel rely on singular vision for CD so heavily that the brand imagine will be deteriorating further if they won’t announce the name soon.

It's probably already been chosen with signed contract and working on the fw collection already ...official announcement will be something protocolar...

If Chanel really, really, really wants to make a statement, à la Sarah Burton at (LVMH) Givenchy, the Wertheimer's should be finalizing their contract with this guy. His signature silhouette just belong at Chanel.

After the disastrous Viard tenure and the more disastrous studio show, I bet they will go for a talented and experienced designer(even by TFS standard very few are available now) who can bring back the brand to spotlight in a fashion sense, so Galliano is easily the one that comes to mind if they expect a Karl-alike tenure. With a remarkable resume, he is around that the age when Karl joined the brand and possibly can steadily serve the brand for at least two deacades. I would not be surprised if Wintour has been lobbying the job for him. A well-oiled machine of Chanel is in desparational need of spetacular shows and loud clothes at this moment.

How can Galliano have a Karl-like tenure... I just don't think he's stable enough to do what Karl did at Chanel!. Furthermore, his designs are the antithesis of Coco Chanel. He's a worse suggestion than Jacquemus, talent aside.
