Do you do 'The Fashion' every day?

I work a lot and there's no dress code at the office. I never wear sneakers or sweats unless I'm training, but that's about it.

I usually wear basic shoes, Levi's or chinos, some kind of knitwear and a jacket. That's about it. I always go for high quality and dont wear anything scruffy though.

I wear running clothes and boring crap most of the time. I find it hard to work in pinstripes.

I do fashion nearly every morning, also when I stay at home, simply because, like some said, it makes one feel better to look good and confident...

There were even cases when I came late for classes, simply because I couldn't decide what to wear or like once recently, when i came late for philosophy because I needed to give my mohawk time to dry...

SO shallow, lol....

I think the tipping point for me was when I bumped into my ex-husband in the West End I was wearing a dreadful old tracksuit - and a fake fur leopardskin coat. (Helena Bonham-Carter eat your heart out). Ok, I had a smart uniform type outfit in my bag - I was on my way to a Buddhist meeting to work as a lilac (usher), I was also late hence the 'my wardrobe fell on me' look, but that doesn't excuse it does it?

I had a similar experience a few years running into an ex (who always looks immaculate) and it was a real wake-up call  My hair was back in a clip and I was wearing a fleece top (albeit cute) and jeans ... I was like ... I can do better than this ;)

I too work with Dilberts and they can sometimes even get upset if someone is "too dressed up" because they feel it threatens their casual dress code. I do not have to do that much to be the most stylish person in the office :innocent:

I would say some days I put more into it than others, depending on where I'm going, how new the current season is and therefore how enthusiastic I am. I cared more when I was younger and less secure. Now there are more important things in my life than how I look on any given day. But I almost never leave the house without makeup and clean hair (what I call a "public service" level of grooming), the exception being to occasionally run out to grab breakfast & bring it back or take the dogs to the groomers, both of which are right around the corner.

i'm sure i don't always look 'immaculate', but i dress everyday.....
no sweatpants, runners, sweatshirts etc.....

i do wear jeans, though.....and flip flops.....:innocent:...
thats about as 'casual' as i get....
oh, and uggs on the occasional rainy day when i'm running to make my class.....:ninja:....

i wear a lot of flats and flat boots.....simple but 'dressed'....
skinny jeans (these i am addicted to....in black.....they don't look as casual as 'blue jeans' but they're comfortable and so easy to wear)....
sweaters and scarves and blazers.... layered tank tops and shirts.....

i like to look put together and have fun.....like nr9 mentioned....i dress for myself.....and i just dont FEEL good when i leave the house in sweatpants and runners.....

:flower:

I totally agree with EVERYthing you said. You made my post that much easier hehe ^_^

I can't say I own anything that is really all that scruffy.

Yeah same here, i never go shopping for stuff like college sweatshirts 'cause I know I ain't gonna wear it. I guess you can say I do the 'fashion thing' every day, i mean i keep it pretty laid back, but in a way that looks put together. My mom has said that the way I dress stands out a bit too much from the crowd here at college though.

Sometimes..when I really feel down, it does cheer me up.
And depending on my mood, I can be dressed up or all decked out in sweats or gauchos - it just throws my colleagues off ;)

I too, work in the IT industry, the dress code is smart0casual, so yup lots of engineers in jeans and tees around.
But at the end of the day, comfort really matters, especially since we work long hourse, and yup like what fashionista-ta said, it doen't take much to be the most fashionable persona around ;)

I have class and sometimes I don't want to wake up at 5:30 am to look extra nice. Before I did a bit more to look nice, but this year I'm busier therefore tired more often and simply don't want to bother as much. I just think about my clothes for a minute and do a mad grab at things and put it on. Even though I stay fairly casual for school....I do not go as lazy as something like throwing on sweatpants...If the outfit is fairly simple I try to at least add some sort of accessory to spruce it up. So I guess I do "the fashion" everyday somewhat because even though it will be simple and casual, I do care what I'm looking like.

Plus, wearing what I would wear out doesn't usually "fit in" with school life.... Like I can't wear 5 inch stilettos everyday at school...... My classes make me run back and forth across the campus and so it simply can't be done without making me run hazardly in heels to get to class on time.

Clean, coordinated and chic. It's the only way for me- inside or outside...

i have a job that requires me to wear a smart suit so to that extent I am always dresssed....but I don't do 'fashion' every day as sometimes its just too hard to do fashion when working in a conservative profession like i do. We have dress down on a friday but even then I don't do fashion as it would be misunderstood. I will never been seen out in track trousers or sweats because I never know who I am going to run into.... I am not really a skank chic girl.

I think being tired has a lot to do with it too. I've just spent three days in Milan and three days in dusseldorf at trade shows, so I had to dress smartly. I couldn't wait to get home and slob out. Before that I was in a factory for two weeks - if you wear anything fancy or fashionable in a shoe factory you stick out like a sore thumb. Ironic considering the high fashion items that are made in there, but true. So it's jeans, nothing revealing and no heels for the factories.

 I like to dress up, though I'm no sure what sort of definition of fashion you mean? I love mixing weird little outfits for college, which my other classmates think is materialistic, but it makes my day, so to hell with them. It makes me feel confident and less sluggish if I were to be dressed in slacks.

I too work out of my home office but agree with one of the earlier posters (sorry...too busy to go back and find your name)...and that is that I find myself more productive and bussinesslike if I get dressed up.

For me that means skirts and dresses and ALWAYS heels/boots with heels. While I kick them off when I'm at my home office desk, I would not be seen in public without heels.

P.S. My job requires me to make at least one sales call each day so dressing up in the morning has multiple purposes. But all in all, I simply feel more professional in a skirt/dress and heels.

P.P.S. So excited about Fall arriving. I have 2 new pairs of knee high boots that I can't wait to wear. One pair from JCrew and the other pair from BR.

I stick out like a sore thumb among the Dilberts, and I'm sure the rest of you who work with them do too :D I can understand, though, LadyMuck, why it would not be to your advantage to do so in the factory. It is a bit sad, like farmers that don't eat produce ...

Fashion every day baby! Well except at the gym (though I try to keep it neat) and except when it is too cold to bother.

i wish i had the time to do fashion every day! (since im on a fashion course!)

but i have to get up early to get the bus into uni so it doesnt leave much time for getting dressed!:ninja: or it doesnt for me since im so lazy!:innocent:

When I feel like a sloppy mess and am in a rush, I throw on some nice lipstick/colored lipgloss and some big sunglasses when I head out the door. It helps me feel more put-together.

I don't wear track trousers and such but I still don't do fashion every day.
Either I don't have the time or I don't feel it's worth it for school, but then again sometimes I'm in the mood to 'dress up' and then it doesn't matter if I'm just going to the grocery store or whatever.

I do make an effort sometimes - when I go out at night (which is rarely), when I go on holiday or when I go to meetings with clients or trade shows (I work in the trade as a designer).

Lady Muck, karma because you sound *exactly* like me. Or... I sound like you. Whichever.

I don't work in the trade, however, and I work out of a home office and rarely step foot outside. Plus I bike to work. I switch into new clothes, of course, but usually it's sweats or clamdiggers and a cute zip-up top or something. If I'm going to be stepping outside, or running errands, I throw on a chunky necklace to at least attempt to spice up my dull and rab day outfits. And the Chanel shades don't hurt, either. ;)

But yes, when I go out, that's definitely my time to enjoy fashion.

sleepwear--------day---------evening------and I hate Britney ;)
