Do you live in fashion Siberia?

^Yep! That's the plan. As soon as I leave school, I'm moving back to England (where I'm originally from) for university and hopefully spending the rest of my life living in a city haha.

I live in the second largest city in my country (Lithuania) and it is total fashion Syberia ;/

I live in Colorado. The decent stores are at the capital, Denver. Anywhere else, the best you'll get is Express, Banana Republic, and Black White. -_-

I live in Louth, the smallest county in Ireland... It's terrible, nobody cares what they wear... and as I moved from Dublin ( where style is a tad better ), I get slagged when I wear something different! Especially at my Debs, as I was the only one to wear a maxi-dress... Like, come on a maxi - dress??!! It's no big deal! Oh I cant wait to get out of here.

I hate how I dress down to blend in. I shouldn't really care but I guess I do. I wish I could wear anything I wanted..

Sometimes I forget how lucky I am to live in Chicago.

I moved here a year ago from the petrochemical/gambling center of southern Louisiana, Lake Charles . Not only are there no decent stores (a lot of Hollister/AE/Victoria Secret track suits/Walmart), but the weather is hot and humid year round. Most resorted to shorts/capris and t-shirts or hoodies. Crocs are in, and so is camo! Most people don't dress up AT ALL and think spending more than 20 bucks on jeans is a "waste" of money. Having grown up in this environment, I also was fashion-illiterate and had no clue about Hermes, Balenciaga, or even Marc Jacobs :ninja:.

Until just last week, I had been living for two years in a neigborhood of tracksuits and pachinko parlors. People would swivel their heads to gawk at me all the way down the street. I just strutted my stuff, but it was getting tiresome. I moved back to my stylish hometown and have no regrets. I usually grow affectionate towards a place I spend some time in and end up feeling wistful when I leave. Not this time. Ha! I say Hah!

...
melisande...
you are too funny!..

i don't know what i would do if i had to deal with that on a regular basis....
well..i guess i would do what you did...
get OUT of dodge...and fast...
:P...

I live an hour north of Chicago... I wouldn't call it Siberia per se; the Loop is a reasonable drive/Metra ride away (I think a third of the people in my neighborhood commute every morning)... But, most of the non-commuting locals (many of whom are farmers) are very pragmatic about what they wear...

They usually shop here...

Commuter-types usually make the trip into the city when they wanna buy clothing, but they're in the minority and tend to be on the conservative side (not too many people wearing Rick Owens in the Midwest)...

I'm living in the Maritimes of Canada currently, basically a homage of small towns surround by more small towns. It's a beautiful place no doubt, you can take a minute walk up towards my backyard and all you see is a view of this blue river with hills of trees as a backdrop. Really gorgeous.

Shopping, not so much beauty, only in the last year have my province finally inherited an H&M, an hour away no less and kind of small but it's decent enough to pick up a few clothing items. Otherwise, I buy my clothes online or summer trips to the US in the larger cities. It can be a bit of hassle, and I've gotten some comments and looks as far as my style goes. It's kind of funny though since I consider myself to be more or so casual with some feminine pieces mixed in but I still get people saying, "Ohhh where did you get that dress?", "Why do you wear heels?", and "I don't think I ever seen you dress normally?" Complete lie btw, honestly, jeans and tee's are they way to go for myself but I suppose it's how I twist them together... maybe it's the heels :P

Either way, I do have keep my limits. I don't want to be scarring off my friends, teachers and other students by dressing in a too fashion forward wardrobe; heels no more than 3 inches, a sequin top in my closet right now has no room for school, even worn in the most sophisticated manor and etc. For example: In fall and winter last year, I've worn this faux leather jacket and these 3 freshman girls were arguing weather or not they like my jacket; "I don't like the look of leather", "Why is she wearing a leather jacket in the first place?", those type of comments. Anyway, a friend came up to me and I asked her, "Do you like my jacket?" with my head tilled to three girls, and friend says, "Yes, it looks great on you". By there faces look, I think they acknowledged the fact I could perfectly here them loud and clear.

But by now my friends are used to the way I dress and so are the people I've known for since I've been in High School. Freshman however may look at me a bit funny... :innocent:

I live in a small coastal town in southern australia. There is a shop that sells crocs just up the street and a small target in the next town.
The nearest shopping centre is an hour drive away. So you can imagine what fashion is like over here.
I live in jeans and ballet flats, but I do like to carry a nice bag and maybe wear a colorful necklace.

I live in the bible belt of California so I'm just aching to get the f out of here

After living in chic Europe for so many years, I find myself in a similar situation in the US now. Where I am, it is Real Housewives, dyed blonde hair on every head, labels, bling...or else overt hipsterism. I stick out like a sore thumb with my vintage skirts and Victorian hair and frequently get comments like "why are you so dressed up?", but I take peace in the fact that there are a handful of like-minds scattered here and there. But, despite looking different, what is suprising is that I get compliments from the most unlikely of characters - like gruff old biker dudes. ^_^

UTOPIA! at least the Real Housewives managed to bring you back!.:clap::heart:

How about Auckland? Everyone here THINKS they care about fashion, but they actually dont.
Everyone wears the most boring sh!t ever. Denim mini-skirts, tank tops and Vans are about 90% of the female population. Board shorts, t shirts and jandals are about 99% of the male population. The word "Couture" is practically unheard of.
I mentioned Balenciaga to a girl once and she thought it was a pastry

BUT luckliy I have tFS to keep me sane ^_^
