Dolce & Gabbana S/S 09 Milan

oh, dont get me wrong :flower:
i love designers who reinvent THEMSELVES, but above all i feel that whatever new elements they introduce, they should always feel new and fresh and be able to bring new ideas with ease... stuff that you clearly see it's on their DNA
to me this brand had always represented this "i-dont-give-a-fcuk" lifestyle of luxurious clothes that were easily worn to... i dont know... a nasty party in Porto Cervo, a bottle of krug in one hand, a cigarette in the other, or the perfectly fitted power suit for an ambitious business woman with savage leopard lining inside, or maybe in a lavish shopping day in Corvara in the middle of the winter.
i am sure this sort of clientele still exists. the same people that would dress in cavalli, if he was still able to deliver decent clothes and shut his mouth from saying the awful things he's been quoted for... or even better, in gianni versace original designs (if the genius still lived)
what i dont like about their latest collections is that i just can't picture a random gisele bundchen in a satin animal print dress that shows off her magnificent body and her killer legs getting out of her limo and instantly being surrounded by photographers et al... and what's worse is that the reason why i cant see that is because i dont understand how the hell is she supposed to get inside the freacking limo with this bony structured larger than life dresses!!!

you just said everything that went on in my head... :ninja:

For me, this is so Marni... I don't like this collection so much. I was expecting more sexiness.
To tell the truth, the shoes are horrible and the clothes are so repetitive :innocent:
I only liked the black dress on Maryna and the white on Jessica. Actually the bags are nice.
I liked the soundtrack, what's the name of this song ? Who sings it ?

the bold necklaces are so glamerous, it reminds me of balenciaga last season...

The dresses are so gorgeous, especially the detailing. Although some pieces look like pyjamas, I'm in love with the bags and belts. The shoes on the other hand...

This and probably Versace are probably the only collections that I will like in Milan. So Chic, especially like those little jackets with the exagerated sholder!!!!:woot: The robe-like jumpsuits.:woot::woot:

Its a very inspired collection from D&G. I love the Oriental/Imelda Marcos sleeves theme! And the finale gowns are the best from them!

One the one hand, I love the shoulders and oriental brocades. However, this is wayy too stuffy for the house, and seems really pretentious to me. The shoes are horrendous, and it pains me to see that image bjoracapella posted from one of the best Dolce collections IMO. It was young, brash, sophisticated glamour.

I'm getting tired of their ballgown shtick. I mean, it was perfect in SS 06. I loved those ones. It was fun for SS 08 (although, by the time I saw them in every issue of every magazine on the covers and in the editorials for the entirety of the SS 08 season, I'd about had it). The FW 08 ones were so stupid looking with that large piece of wool just thrown on them. And now these...I mean, I kind of like the shape of the ones on Caroline and Lily, but there's really no point to them. It's just like they're doing them for the sake of doing them.

i like some of it but there is just too much going on on some of the dresses!

I don't think I have been this excited about a Dolce and Gabbana collection in a long time.

I love the architectural shoulder and the fabrics. I think it is a step forward but it still seems very very Dolce and Gabbana to me.

Kind of reminds me of Alexander Mc Queen a few seasons ago where he did those dresses with the flowers and the exaggerated hips/shoulders.

Loved it all, by far my favorite collection in milan this season.
So glad they didn't disappoint.B)

I don't see a problem with them doing new things. How are they supposed to grow as designers if they don't? Re-hash the same crap year after year? Come on...

I totally agree.

You have to put yourself in their, or any other designer's position - everybody gets bored when they do the same thing over and over.
I think it's fascinating how Dolce & Gabbana have managed to edge themselves into sheer modesty, coming away from the Beyonce and Rihanna sex scene.
This collection looks amazing.
I think these past three seasons Dolce & Gabbana have really been expressing what they can do.
And the sculpture appearing in this collection definately ticks one trend box for next summer.

I hate the model with the dog. That's vile.
The rest is looking fantastic.
