Dolce & Gabbana S/S 09 Milan

Oy

the second pic is not "sexy", it's a "street worker".

and the 3rd just survived an attack from some Doberman dogs.

i wanted to add, i don't like the plattform shoes. awful. reminds me of those fishtank plattform shoes.

Those shoes look painful, but strangely alluring. This collection is quite Lacroix! I agree with dior_couture1245!

I can't decide really. In some pieces it's McQueen, others Galliano via Dior, others Lacroix...a bit of LV by Marc. WTF?

The shoes are so different! Actually interesting but they seem unconfortable.

daul kim looks amazing!

the music is boring!:yuk:

With Dolce and Gabbana I feel like it's a weird catch 22. If they stick to their vampy, trashy glamazon thing, they're accused of never moving on or breaking out of their corsets....metaphorically and literally.

If they go a completely different, romantic, nutty, voluminous route, they get called out for not being true to to what they do best.

No matter what, they're one of those labels that will never please everyone.

That said, I do like what they've done here. It's very, very influenced by Lacroix, but I don't know that it's a bad thing. They do have an eccentric romantic side that I think people forget about because of all the sex and kitch. This is just a new take on it, for them anyway.

I do wish they'd go back to their more strealined presenations, more edited, less showy, just amazing, dramatic clothes. I constantly go back to their f/w 98 collection as a sort of standard for them. It was sexy, tight, definitely the vampy mistress, but paired with handpainted flowers and cascading corsages bustled up in the back. It was a lot of stuff, but not too much. I think they've lost a bit of that charm these last few years.

dolce and gabanna rocks anyway

i love their pajama inspired looks!

The shoes at the start are really nice. But this is kinda annoying. I REALLY appreciate the detail that has gone into the whole collection, it looks very organized and well thought out, but the collection itself is sorta weird. The huge dress on Caroline is stupid looking and those geomertic shoulders are unflattering. I dunno, I have mixed feelings.

I like this collection, the presentation is not best, but i think they managed to get inspired by other designers but make it their own, its so wonderfuly romantic.

thank god some detractors showed up! ilaughead's and dior_couture's opinion made me feel a little better as it seems what i pointed out actually made sense to other people too
Where is the Dolce & Gabbana woman? The kind of bitchy glamazon that lives to be hated,The Alexis Carrington or her modern day version: Victoria Beckham, the woman with tons of attitude and sass.I miss her, now we have this romantic vunerable chick who carries a lap dog with her, instead of a man of the season who will pay for all of her clothes and get disposed as fast as a used Kleenex after the bills are taken cared off.
amen to that Giovanna4ya!!

and i say Rest in Peace too Jacque Marcel

The accessories were so not Dolce&Gabbana.

This is definitely the most post-modern collection they'd done. The references are so mixed and with the Japanese undercurrent it becomes overly complicated.

I don't think they'll do 'sexy' anymore since people have blasted them when they do it. Their sexy is associated with a sort of cheapness. They want to go against that and create expensive pieces if that makes sense.

^^I disagree with that, they were never like Cavalli.etc their sexiness was always done in a fun way not cheap, they were masters of sexy so i can see why others are missing it, but i am glad, very glad they are moving on and doing other things, i am sure they will belt out antoher sexy collection in the future though, hahah.

its obvious that they are struggling to stretch beyond what they normally do to something a little more editorial and, dare i say it, fashionable. and it is about damn time.

i think the collection could have worked better had they just scaled it down. its just too many looks. they could have cut out the pajama theme all together and still had an interesting show.

I actually get what helmut.newton was saying, but maybe cheapness was the wrong word. Vulgar might be a better way of describing it, their brand of sexy was always "up and out". I'm not blasting it for that though.

In the past they kept a pretty good balance of vulgar mistress sex and baroque romanticism. These last few years though, they seem to veer to one extreme or another instead of finding that balance. It's sad in a way.

I miss the vintage Dolce and Gabbana, that look of just having left the boudoir in your palest pink lingerie without bothering to put anything over it before heading to a sex club.

oh gosh this collection is gorgeous!!!!! everything!
and the bags.....GORGEOUS!
i'm loving this collection soo much
finally something good in milan since it's been sucky all week

i don't know what's wrong with them this season. both collections were very very bad. :ninja:

and what was with all the 2.55 fakes?

The shoes are digusting.

I have a major problem with the styling here. I see a few pieces I like, but overall it's just...too much. I want them to continue in this new direction they're going in because I couldn't stand the trashy call-girl looks of the past. Obviously, they can re-invent themselves without disregarding their signature Dolce sex appeal, as they did in their Fall 2007 collection. It was powerful and sexy, with plenty of innovation and restraint to even it out.

That dress on Stam is...eughh.
